plesk has a good back end but cpanel has a good interface.

plesk has a bad interface and cpanel has a bad backend.

Complete oposites.

Granted Cpanel may look better, but the look of the panel is a small part of the matter.

I look for solid software, stable fuctionality and good support . I find that in Plesk 2.o

It offers all the features that I need, and provides the stability I need to let me sleep at night.

If you want Looks, go Cpuke, if you want quality go Plesk

I use both cpanel and plesk in my netowork. I love plesk its stable and offers everything I feel the little 7.95 a month clients should get for their money. The clients don't like plesk as much and want cpanel. Cpanel has lots more features and keeps me from getting emails and phone calls about installing guest books and so on.

If you want to offer features get cpanel. If you want to be abel to take a week off and the server still work get plesk.
BTW my redhat box since I upgraded to kernel 2.4.12 works great 0 problems.

The "CPanel 4" that this individual is referring to is "NOCSoft". And no, it has not been released yet.

I like plesk a lot. I was first turned off by it because of how it looked, but it has inner beauty..heh

I actually think plesk's design is quite attractive. I don't know why everyone is always criticizing it. The only downside I can find is that it goes a little slow on a dialup connection. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the operation of plesk. The tech support is outstanding, reseller capabilities are great, and more. It'll be interesting to see what extras they unveil in the near future.

We are using Plesk and Cpanel.

imho, overall I prefer Plesk like what others have said , Plesk is reliable, stable and secure.

ps: i think Nick is a good programmer, I hope that Cpanel will get better with the release of NOCsoft. We are ready and waiting to order nocsoft as soon as NOCsoft is released, otherwise, Plesk is the best choice for reliability. In fact, Rackspace's uses Plesk as well.

ps2: I hafta say this, I agree w/ davidb >>Plesk has an inner beauty but you have to be IN it to enjoy it. lol

What is so bad / unstable about CPanel?

I'm an end-user (a client) and I've used both. Even though I love Cpanel's interface, I still prefer Plesk. I've had a website with faulty Cpanel3 (takes 2-3 days to update). Somehow, I don't trust CPanel's accuracy too...

It mysteriously breaks random features between midnight & 1am a couple times a month.

The cpanel programmers refer to this as an upgrade. I'm not sure how often things are actually updated. IMHO, they do enough pre-release testing before they push updates out to the whole world.

Besides Red Hat Linux what else do you need on the server to install Plesk?
