View Full Version : Hosters that are still around?

Today has been a bit slow for us so i spent the morning looking at old forum threads here and was surprized at how many "companies" made posts or advertised their services and if you look now they are out of business or at least their website is not there anymore...

I guess i didn't realize the turn over rate was so high for hosting.

Any comments?

The good ones will always be around, and that's all that matters.

I call it the crappy host thining effect.

Yes, the only thing that really matters is good hosts that are still around and will be around in the future. Most of the hosts that have gone under, from what I can tell, offered insane packages for low prices or weren't financially set.

Yeah, I've watched a lot of companies come and go in my 2 1/2 years here at WHT. Watched tons go from being awesome to terrible. I can almost predict which ones will fall out.

netstartz was great, then suddenly one day all hell broke loose.

I think the owner has some serious problems.

I, of course, have my own opinions and predictions but to post them would be considered host bashing and I'd be shot down in flames... NOC NOC anyone?

Probably the worst joke you've seen all day too.

Actually, some of the oldies may recall we had a thread here some time ago (a very long time ago) that listed hosts, their site, what they offered, all in one thread. The thread was pretty long at one point, and eventually it was removed by errr... not me. Anyhow, I went through that one day and noticed the same thing X-Gaming noticed.

One thing I've noticed about this phenomenon is those that keep a low profile, seem to be those that have lasted.

Just something I've noticed.

I think keeping a low profile comes with becoming a success. You have a lot to shout about when your starting to expand - but when you reach a certain comfort zone and then go beyond that, there is little time to keep shouting ;)

I remember back 6-7 months ago when we were first getting our feet wet and making posts here asking a hundred questions it seemed like there were a million hosters but the funny part was over half of the guys that told me we would never succeed are the ones that are no longer in business...

At WHT a 'low profile' is the best success possible :Db

Speaking of those old timers whatever happened to NetSolutions (he and rewdog with the dating threads were hilarious), OneWeb, and Appletreats.

And where the heck has Darth been?

Dang, I look at wht and I've been here for almost a year (around 9 mo) And when I think about it, I do notice a difference in the common posters. But then again, I really didnt post in the lounge much until the last few months, and various people tend to stick to various forums. (Remember the postcount drop when they got rid of the requests forums? I didnt lose any posts)

I wonder if its possible to go through the history of WHT, from the beginning, and list the top 10 posters of each month...
