Is the Entropy search engine CGI script that is found in many hosting packages also available as a separate (free?) download?

I can't find it on Google :(

Why would you want it seperate? I assume your provider offers it as well right?

I'm using it with one of my providers (that's how I know about it).

My other provider does not have it and I'd also like more control over what it indexes, which I don't get through the control panel.

I like perlfect search myself.

Never could find anything at all in any of the search engines for entropy other than hosts that offered it in their packages.

Thanks. Looks good. I like the price :-)

Will hosts generally install DB_File or is it likely already in place on most servers?

If its not in place then you should request that the host do it.... If they refuse to add it and don't give you a acceptable reason (security risks), then most likely they don't care about their clients.
