View Full Version : 2 accounts max
PhoneSupport 01-24-2004, 05:14 PM Hi
I realy feel people should be able to have 2 accounts for privace if it is something about their host. Maybe if people could get approval beforehand? I would if I got the chance! :)
Just a thought.

Chicken 01-24-2004, 05:23 PM Even though the guidelines clearly state, "Members are permitted a maximum of one account per person..." this is not the case, and under certain circumstances it is permissible to have more than one account. Email in...
Rochen 01-24-2004, 05:37 PM What Chicken said is correct. In exceptional circumstances we will allow you to have another account on a temporary basis, for example if you are selling your hosting company. You must contact us and seek permission first though.
PhoneSupport 01-24-2004, 05:55 PM What about the abillity to hide your username to normal users, but let moderators see it, by ticking a box on the post/topic?
Just an idea :)
Sheps 01-24-2004, 05:58 PM Are you trying to make ProHackers Job harder then it already is? If we make him do that, we will have to start paying him instead of giving him free food... :P
PhoneSupport 01-24-2004, 06:01 PM lol ok, well, whenever you feel ProHacker is getting on your nerves, redirect him to this topic :D
Akash 01-24-2004, 06:04 PM why would you need to keep your name private?
PhoneSupport 01-24-2004, 06:08 PM For Private issues which you dont want to make public as it may affect the reputation of your company. For example, you may ask "How do I use SSH", when people see this, and your name, there is no chance they will decide to go with you because you have no idea, even though you know how to work everything except that one thing. Or maybe ask how to solve problems with your host, which you dont want to make public to your customers.

PhoneSupport 01-24-2004, 06:50 PM Very true point. Just remember, it was just an idea :)

In which case WHT would have done its job correctly.
Sheps 01-24-2004, 07:03 PM IMO, if you cannot use SSH, you shouldn't be in the business.

Agreed :)

Agreed too :)
It was a pure example off the top of my head (plus I am very tired and could not think of a better one) :D
Incognito 01-24-2004, 08:13 PM If one wants to make public accusations or condemnations of their host or on the other hand praise someone it is important their identiy and credibility can be evaluated. Thats why most of us put so little credence in newbies who run in just to flame or shill.
Kimmikat 01-24-2004, 10:33 PM Also agreed. Plus if Prohacker tweaks this mboard too much, it might cause your ATM machine to spit out tons of $20s... :D
PhoneSupport 01-25-2004, 05:31 AM lol, I agree too. I am going to repeat myself "It was just an idea". I just wanted to know your opinions, and if its a good idea or not :)
anon-e-mouse 01-25-2004, 08:01 AM From a moderators point of view, it is a bad idea. Hard enough keeping up with those who have multiple accounts as it is, without allowing it too  :bawling:

But wouldn't the "Shield username to normal users" help you reduce the amount of people getting 2+ accounts, and restrict it to 5 times a year, or get approval first :D
anon-e-mouse 01-25-2004, 08:16 AM Maybe in 1% of cases. :cartman: Not good odds ;)

If someone is going to make a derogatory post about their host, they're going to be naming names -- they should be identified as well. Last thing we need is anonymous accusations. And if a host is worried about revealing their lack of knowledge about certain technical issues, well... as Matt said above, that'd be a good thing.
The fact that a user can get permission to do so temporarily in rare circumstances covers any extreme thing that might come up. But it should be very rare.
