View Full Version : Pictures of office..computer equitment etc :)
mkaufman 10-07-2001, 10:41 PM Hey,
How about posting some pictures of your office and computer equitment here? Sure would be interesting.
I'll post mine tomorrow.
creid 10-07-2001, 10:44 PM Mines to ugly!:stickout
Chicken 10-07-2001, 11:19 PM If you will provide the shovel, I'll clear off the assortment of software packages, manuals, boxes, bills, CDs, invoices, copies, bills, etc., so that *maybe* you'll be able to see the computers and the desk. I've not seen the desk myself in a very, very long time. You'd think we were moving with all the boxes...
markblair 10-08-2001, 12:12 AM And I thought I was alone on this one. At least that's what my wife says... "Nobody else could have such a messy desk"
I should print this and show here there are others in this world like me...:D
JustinK 10-08-2001, 12:53 AM hehe... I have wome weird tiki things, a bunch of programming books, bill, cds, my dell thing, a ton of boxes for hardware/software... and who knows what else lurking on the desktop. :) I'd take a pic, but the digital camera is roaming china at the moment.
Travis 10-08-2001, 01:05 AM Okay, let's play "who has the messiest work area?"
I'll start the bidding... :)
WebHostin 10-08-2001, 01:26 AM Wow...
Pretty messy! Id give that high marks since 1) you use what looks to be speakers with a thing of plywood as a place to put atleast 2 printers and a fax! NICE! :D
2) You look live you could have lived in that space for days with the empty bowl, and many empty drink containers!
-- Brad
I've gotta get a picture of my setup on here now... It'd be a tough one to beat. There's three desks put together, covered in all sorts of various hardware, components, books, and coffee rings. As for all the paperwork, well that's now under the desk so I can feel as if I have some form of organization ( so long as you don't look under.. I'll get to that, really. ).
JustinK 10-08-2001, 02:12 AM hahahaha... you call that messy?! I'll have to borrow someone's digital camera and then you're all going down!
Relyc 10-08-2001, 02:15 AM Don't count your chickens before they hatch Justin, you haven't seen mine yet ;)
Travis: I like that 'COLD DRINK' label on the cup, until now I always thought tha was a standard sort of movie cup because they couldn't afford a real name on it :D
Travis 10-08-2001, 02:17 AM Nope, that's a genuine Jack in the Box cup. :)
Tallon 10-08-2001, 02:31 AM Travis, compared to my desk yours looks REALLY clean. I'm always telling people that it's a good thing people can't see through my monitor. I'd even be too embarrassed to post a picture of it ;) Guess that means it's time to clean it.

I was thinking the same thing...
rockergrrl 10-08-2001, 12:04 PM you don't wanna see mine... horrible....
Most of my stuff instead of being sorted when I "clean" off my desk is put in a rubber maid tote and put in the corner... I have 2 already in the corner -- and we've only lived here since June..
tee hee...
I'll spare you the sight of my desk.... :D

Rewdog 10-08-2001, 01:44 PM I need a camera that takes a 360 degree picture from the ceiling of my office. I'm talking a 18 foot by 18 foot mess, 4 computers, 3 printers, scanners, cameras, fast food,wires.... and a dog is around here somewhere:confused: .

lol.. That was actually taken a few weeks ago. You DON'T want to see how it looks now. I'd say it pretty darn messy.
Travis 10-08-2001, 05:43 PM Those posters would sure perk up my work day! :)

Teck, how can you cope with such a small desk?! And it's sooooo tidy!
Lol
I don't know about hot dog containers, ashtrays, and empty Jack in the Box cups but I do _always_ have either a glass of Mountain Dew or a Cup of Coffee sitting proudly on the desk.... as far as messy however....I'm fairly sure I'm the winner in that category.
Anyone can have a pile of papers stacked on the desk or plants made of mold...but when you add a Military MaCAW to the mix well.... let's just say it doesn't get messier than that :P
And with no further chit chat.... here ya have it folks..... "my desk"
p.s. it's that other desk butted up against mine that's truly messy...but he's a sysAdmin so what do you expect....
JustinK 10-08-2001, 07:03 PM Jeese... your desks are all neat and tidy. I have a bunch of odd stuff all over. My desk always has a mountain dew or mug hot chocolate on it. Then of course whatever little happy meal toy my sister leaves in there along with her little craft things she makes and gives away left & right.
Nicholas Brown 10-08-2001, 08:27 PM I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow. I have locked up and come to bed - the bats in the camera are flat and Im not tuning my alarm off for 2x AA's ;) - Guess you'll all have to wait until tomorrow to see my tip :D
Chicken 10-08-2001, 09:13 PM So far I win. You people with those clean desks make me sick. If you can believe it, I recently cleaned that desk, and it was worse. Now the piles of papers are ORGANIZED.
I need a 360 degree cam too, as I'm not showing you the floor (the expansion of the desk), which has now creeped into the living room (I'm certain it does this while we're sleeping).
*Did you hear that paper move?*
creid 10-08-2001, 09:16 PM Chicken...
Somebody please just beat him!:D Im not gunna post mine. Way to neat.:stickout
Chris
Tallon 10-08-2001, 09:24 PM If I could take a picture I would, mine is as bad or worse than Chickens. It's my organized mess, when I clean it all up I can't find anything :)
remarkable 10-08-2001, 09:40 PM How about your servers?
Here are some of mine...
I wouldn't dare take a picture of my desk... it's actually clean... if you could call it that...
Although, my mom cleaned it a couple days ago, by filling two large boxes.... with whatever wasn't attached.... now you can actually find my DSL modem and computer...
Dylan 10-09-2001, 12:59 AM err umm... cough cough... has anybody thought about taking and posting a picture of themselves?
I posted a couple pics of me a while back.... I only had one really scary picture...
remarkable 10-09-2001, 01:14 AM I'm the guy on the right....
This is the day I signed the contract on my cabinets.
I'd be the one passing out the ammo to the kids, my husband (our CTO) would be the one blasting the kids with ammo of his own. This pic was taking last year ...
Ok....and this would be the pic that failed to enter the above post
(hey Chicken...did ya notice I got my "browse" ability back...just for you :P)
Dylan 10-09-2001, 01:54 AM :D
As you can see, I've got a horrible and cheap webcam - it's connected to my notebook - I've had my webcam for about 4 months and this is the first time I'm using it. You can't see a thing, but here's my desk (I'll try and take a shot of myself later on today): http://www.hostyard.com/images/mydesk.jpg
Pretty messy, huh?
RunOfTheMill 10-09-2001, 02:05 AM this is a cool idea.
itd be nice to see what everbody looks like so we can put a face to the usernames. ;)
Voila.
I think i was at a Party here.
Tallon 10-09-2001, 02:52 AM Hmm.. This is a not so good picture of me, it's a bit old too but it's all I have.
This is me on a good day, no kidding.. note my desk behind me, a bit messy. I have a new desk now, I just finished building it this weekend, and it rocks. I will try to get a pic of it soon.
Nigel 10-09-2001, 04:34 AM Here's me on my graduation night about 4 years ago. That's the only photo I have on the computer - http://avs.net.au/me.jpg
I'm surprised to see only one monitor on everyone's desk?! I've got 3 x 19" monitors all hooked up to my one desktop computer. I'd take a picture but don't have a digital camera handy.
Cheers,
Nigel
Chicken 10-09-2001, 12:18 PM When we are bored, and at the mall, we take advantage of the 'email a picture to a friend' kiosk and these are two from various trips to the mall (something I personally hate, but make the best of).

You got married at McDonalds? LOL, totally something I'd do, but... ummm... didn't. :D
If you want to see Redondo Beach, I've got a couple of the wife standing by the shore here...
at the risk of being banned from this chicken ranch, I'm throwing up some photos of chicken too. :)
the first one has chick's wife and me in the background.
this one is of him, his wife, and an un-named windows host with significant other.
here is the whole group taken by a passerby, since you know the rest, that's me and my wife on the right end.
this last one shows chicken in his natural habitat, any place with food. I was in town on a business trip and he took us to a nice restuarant with lots of food.

Can you find where the cable modem is ?
Webdude 10-10-2001, 01:14 AM Maaan, you are ALL a bunch of losers when it comes to MY desks. I have yet to see a messy desk in this thread! I have a cam, but the pics it takes suck...so I'm gonna go get some film for my polaroid in the morn and take a pic of my two most used computers. Oh, I dont even know how to describe this mess, I have GOT to clean up! Man I got wendys biggie cups all over, some almost empty tuaca and goldshloger bottles, some carpet fresh, a spray bottle of malathion and a can of raid (we have those HUGE tree raoches here and I have no idea HOW they get in here!!), lottery tickets all over the place, sprite bottles, various oreilly and dummies books scattered about, 360 watts speakers, some empty cereal bowls (oh man, one has mold in it!), dual monitors on one of the pc's, a measuring tape (I've been looking for that too!), and then all the usual office stuff along with it all such as cordless phones all over the place, a fax, printer, stable, hole punchers, a slingshot (I use it to target practice at the Texas sized mosquitoes we have here), some bandaids (for when the mosquitoes get me first).
You know, this is too bad to take a pic of...LOL...I'll clean a bit before I do...heh

Notice the electrical plugs attached to the alternating current outlet to the left of the desk. Even with today's technology, a computer user must still use many electrical cords to power his computer.
My wiring mess is a fire hazard waiting to happen.... :)

WoodShedd 10-12-2001, 03:40 AM i like this thread.
i would love to post a picture of my workspace. i dont have a camera or a scanner though.
Believe me it is an ugly mess. I have to sift through all the paper to find my keyboard, and the chair wont roll anywhere because there are too many wires laying around, as well as jewel cases. There is gum stuck on the seat of my chair papers everywhere dud cdrs everywhere, and there is a paperclip under one of the shift keys so capitalizing is a pain. capitalizing letters i mean.
there are cupboards attached to the desk and if i open them a bunch of 5'1/4 disks will fall out along with a few outdated books, a cd rack a couple of rocks and um a magazine
as for me, i'm not a mess. I'm only a mess on saturday mornings :)

Dahlia 10-16-2001, 06:13 PM my computer is to the left, not that messy on the top.. but under the desk... that's where all the files, papers and other mess piles up, and the amount of cords under there.. it's scary. :o

Oh no fair!! Now you've started a new thread all together :D
Very nice looking cockatoo btw ;)
Considering current events, I think it's only fitting to have a Military MaCAW on tap!
Here's my ECHO
WildWayz 10-17-2001, 05:24 AM ta - nice macaw too :)
Bobby, the cockatoo is still a baby :)
He is only about 4-5 months old, and apparently will live to be 45-50 :)
Such a cute bird, but is nervous of things - but we are doing that "raise them in chaos and they can handle anything" technique.
We also have a green Pattigonian parrokeet too - called Chico, who likes to roll onto his back and play dead to get attention - very cheeky :)
Bobby has 2 moods, cute and evil :)
I am trying to teach him to say "I am Evil Bobby!" :)
--James
We also have a green Pattigonian parrokeet too - called Chico, who likes to roll onto his back and play dead to get attention Ahh Echo did that (he'll be one year old on Nov 11th 2001) though he didn't "play dead". Instead he played as if the toys above him were killing him "SQUAWK SQUAWK!!"
Later we learned he just loved playing in the upside down position. Pic included of his fav position these days....
Echo was hatched and raised in chaos so no probs there but when it comes to good and evil.... YEP!
Does this have anything to do with hosting? I guess it would if we could teach these feathered friends to say "Reboot and call back later" :D
