Anyone used it or have any opinions about it?
Since I don't have a separate office address, I do feel a little exposed putting my home address out there on the net. I do have a PO Box... can I use that? What is this address used for, anyhow? Payment, renewal, and transfer is all done electronically, right? Do people even bother to use real addresses? Does someone send you something there, and then if you don't pick it up, they cancel your domain? I would like to use my PO Box number. Would there be any advantage to paying a service for anonimity?
Thanks,
-Dave (hiding behind his PO Box number...)

Yes you could use your PO Box for that. I believe that providing accurate information is important. People rarely checks that unless there is some legal reason to do so.
Some DNS registrar do provide anonymous facility such as the 'Proxy' service from Godaddy. However, you still need to provide them with accurate information.
It depends on what you are doing really. If you are using the web site to run a business, entering a true address even a PO Box address is essential or else people may think you are one of those fly-by-night company who is out to scam them. Trust works both ways.

I dont use anonymous registration - I do use a PO box on some of my domains.
It's basically like a domain phone book, except you're required to put valid information there - just another source for marketers to send you junk mail.
If you have a PO box and dont mind getting junk mail there - use that. If you want to use anonymous registration use that; but make sure you register with a trustworthy registrar, as they could assume rights to the domain if you dont list yourself as the administrative contact of the domain.

Would you really be happy having enom or godaddy listed as the owner of your domain? I think its very unclear on how things would go if the domain was disputed or if a hijacking occured.

I have a handful of my domains using Protectfly.com. I have never had an issue. If you wish to transfer the name or just return to showing your info, just disable the service and your own info shows up instantly.

I dont think Dmoains by Proxy was around 1 year ago. I believe it started more recently than that.

I'm thinking of using a PO box, I do not currently have one. Maybe a good idea for security reasons.

Those proxy registrations are uneconomical for people with large portfolios.

Up until 6 months ago I was just using a P.O. BOX to keep the telemarketers from sending me nonsense, there were still sending crap to my po box.
