http://www.serverrat.com looks pretty good. I just signed up with them. They are free and check your sign every fifteen minutes instead of every hour. If your site is down they can also alert you via AOL or ICQ... ;)

Never heard of Server Rat, but will give them a shot. I currenly use InternetSeer, but I am not too sure how reliable they are.

I suppose having multiple monitoring services certainly wouldn't hurt - especially for they are free.

Checked my ServerRat status since I initially added two URLs to monitor last night about 10PM, EST and as I looked at it a few moments ago - the initial "check" appears to have been the only check since I established an account.

When does the checking every 15 minutes start?

Is there a service we can use to measure "uptime" and show publicly, and therefore may use it to testify against uptime guarantees?

How do you guys guarantee uptime anyway?

Seems to me that many hosts just put up 99.5% uptime etc. because everyone else do, not because they really have 99.5% uptime.

How do customers know where their site has been up 99.5% or 80%?

I subscribed to these sites, except for qwkmon that, oddly enough, keeps refusing my email address...anyway I was surprised by their sign-in form: it has no 'password confirmation' field...
