We are looking for a decent shopping cart, along with the ability to accept credit cards/paypal.

we are a Canadian business for the Merchant account might have to be in Canada :)

What are the steps I need to get this started?

What shopping carts are good? (maybe free?)

And would it be easy to integrate a 'Model' 'Make' Year search into these shopping carts?

Thank you for your time.

If you are using PHP - check out www.oscommerce.com

If you are using ASP, check out: www.vpasp.com - I also have a more basic ASP shopping cart that I can send to you as well if you would like to review that, just let me know. It is free.

I echo the views that users have experienced on osCommerce - excellent piece of software.

For the merchant account check out Paysystems or PSIGate. They are both based in Canada & should be able to help you out.

I recommend www.cubecart.com as a very nice shopping cart. It has all the major payment processors built right in, and is very nice looking and easy to use.

The author is pleasant, too.
