I keep trying to call and email godaddy but they are taking for ever to respond.

I cancelled one of my domain names a couple of months ago but changed my mind and now I want it back... but it won't let me re-register it. Does anyone know if I have to wait a certain amount of time or how I can get it back quickly?

you can't "cancel" a domain name. It expires after the registration term is up and takes I believe 60 days for it to be released to the public.

No, you can cancel a domain name. This is done when you don't want the domain name anymore and you then cancel it.

I cancelled that domain but now it won't let me re-register it.

Check the whois listing for it to see what the status is... if it's in the redemption period, registrar hold, whatever. You may have to get godaddy's support to handle it for you, though, if you don't want to wait for it to go to a normal available status -- and may have to pay an increased fee.

I see thanks, sorry was just wondering to get super quick answer since godaddy's help section didn't have the answer to this. I looked but didn't see it.

I'll just register the .org extension of the same domain instead :)

I've always had good luck with GoDaddy's support. When you email them, don't expect a response for at least a couple hours, but I've always gotten a response within at least 24 hours.

Calling them, I've had them pick up right away, other times I've been on hold for up to a half hour. but never more than a half hour. Thats when it helps to use a Cell for the long distance :)

Their phone support is excellent when you actually get a person on the phone. They are quick and explain everything. I talked to them about getting a domain transferred from a register.com account, and the register.com people wanted a $250 transfer fee  but the GoDaddy people helped me do what I could, but in the end, since it was Register.com that was holding up the domain, I just used GoDaddy's backorder feature and a month after the domain expired, It popped up in my GoDaddy account.

:agree: :agree: to GoDaddy!
