View Full Version : Here's my criteria, any suggestions for hosting?

I am currently using surpasshosting but they seem to be having quite a few problems lately. They are nice enough, but now that I found this place I thought I would see if there is better out there.

Bandwidth: I am running a site for our church. We aren't that big so bandwidth isn't a huge issue. At the same time I would like to have about 5 gigs per month to be safe. I may want to throw a small video up for people to see, plus pics from events.

HD space: It would be nice to have enough HD space for any such movie and pics, but I don't think I would need more than a gig or so.

Features:

PHP
MySQL
At least 100 email accounts
Cpanel

Also right now since it's cheap I am paying out of pocket. Should it get to high they will pay for it, but for now I would like to keep it under $10 if possible.

Other than that I don't care about add ons or anything extra to install because I will code the site myself.

Thank you in advance for the suggestions.

I'd recommend www.HostingScene.com since I've been with the for almost a couple of months now and they've helped me out.

Oh, one more criteria. I really like hosting companies with their own forums. It's nice to be able to post and talk with other users.

Hi,

You might want to do a bit of searching around the forums offers section, and maybe check out some hosts at some hosting directories, then do some searching on them.

Good luck, you probably won't have much probably finding a host right for you with your budget.

hostingscene has there own forums and if you read it, you can tell that they'll help you out each and every time.

I had been looking at fuitadnet, but I did some searching and many people were suspicious. I had a site with them and had no issues, but with some of the feedback I didn't want to take a chance. Also I did look at the sellers forum, but none really stood out to me.

Edit: Well Hostingscene seems to be pretty decent from what their website says. Also I did a search and didn't really come up with any negative comments. The only thing about them is their forums are virtually empty. Do you think that means anything?

Not at all.

Some companies simply have more community-driven users than others.

Some companies attract different clients, on the one hand you have somewhere like httpme that has been built on a community. And then you have companies that don't choose to push this option.

I would not base your decision on whether to go with HostingScene or not, on the fact that their forums are not frequently used. Maybe they simply don't push the forum as much as others, or possibly the clients don't feel the need for the forum.

www.Hostrocket.com gets pretty good reviews from its customers. They also have a huge forum going.

Ok, two people have PM'd, but when I try to open the message I get the you do not have permission to view this page error. Was there another registration process I missed?

I wouldn't know. Maybe you should post an alternative way to contact you like an aim account or an email address so that the people who did PM you can just contact you another way.

if they PMd you with offers then that is against wht rules [if i am correct]. As for hostingscene, they have a forum for customers and non customers to chat even though it isnt very active, it does show what has gone on from what is there, imo.

What type of problems were you having with surpasshosting? I was thinking of going with them and i'm trying to do some more research on them.
