View Full Version : NEW amazing script - httpdTOP
Veridian - Shneur 01-20-2004, 03:15 PM This amazing new script is a must for every sysadmin!
How many times did you see your server get overloaded and in "top" you see 'httpd' process and you have no idea what website (a tend user) is overloading the server?
With Htop, you will reveal instantly what username and associated website(s) are using the most resources via a monitor that displays in realtime the top Hits, Bytes, Websites and Users that are currently accessing your server!
within seconds you can see what website/user is getting the most hits and using the most bandwidth and then decide if you want to move his account to a different server.
You must purchase a individual copy for each server.
The pricing is as follows:
$49 for 1 server
$25 each server thereafter.
to order please email: sales@e-z-hosting.com
GWDGuy 01-20-2004, 04:13 PM will this work on a shared IP or does it need each account to be on its own?
thanks
Robert

Yes, it works with shared IP's as well as dedicated IP's, or a combination of both.
TopHostSupport 01-20-2004, 04:28 PM Does this work with all OS? All Control panel?
Do you have a few screen shots showing it in action?

Lets see how many whters we can toy with tonite.
Dave - Just199 01-21-2004, 12:13 AM I wonder if this script has anything to do with
http://clueful.shagged.org/apachetop/
Someone just posted a comment about it in the forums....
AlaskanWolf 01-21-2004, 01:26 AM lol pretty near idential 'wording' this kid is using compared to that url you gave! lmao, wht gets taken again (including me) by a 10 kid looking to rip people off....
Anyway, i tired it out and it doesnt look like it would help in the shared envir unless all sites logs were in 1 file, which as cpanels of course in a entire folder (domlogs)

Seems like this "kids" program does quite a bit more than apachetop. Having user info alone is significantly more than what apachetop provides. I wouldn't jump to conclusions of being "taken" until something is demonstrated (or not).
AlaskanWolf 01-21-2004, 01:41 AM it would be great then if he can actually respond to everyones requests, even on AIM and MSN (his sig), i see him online, but he doesnt answer any requests.....
talash 01-21-2004, 03:55 AM I would like to have a demo. I might just put this on my new server.
Veridian - Shneur 01-21-2004, 05:03 AM All who have not received the demo -
Please be patient, due to the big demand, we are not giving manual demo's anymore due to time constraints - so we are making an automatic signup page to download and install the demo instantly without each person needing to request an individual tutored demo.
Demo ready at: (Estimated time!)

Thanks for your patronage - we wish to each and every one of you with all the best happiness and success in your business.

(sorry - screenshot taken quickly with some demo software i just dloaded-didnt register yet *blush*)
Veridian - Shneur 01-21-2004, 08:35 AM Update:
We need 1 or 2 Beta-testers to test the htop-demo and the upcoming htop-clustering multiple-server version.
If you run Linux or FreeBSD dedicated servers and wish to let us test on your servers, email betasoftware@e-z-hosting.com
prourl 01-21-2004, 01:30 PM you should add this resource to http://ScriptWiz.com asap!
zakboca 01-21-2004, 10:58 PM Any updates on this? Has anyone purchased, and tested this?

AlaskanWolf 01-22-2004, 03:59 AM just looking at the demo shot you gave, I see a possible major flaw seeing how your basic everything on hits, not visits, not executions, but hits....anyone knows you can have 2 million hits and just 1000 visitors.....that still doesnt help you track down a high resource hitter, care to shed some more line on exactly how your scripts execute, what they research, if they can check hundreds of log files (like Cpanel) or just one (IE: access_log)
AexiSolutions 01-22-2004, 05:30 AM We already released a script like this a while ago, we would be willing to work on this project with you.
We woudl not require payment, instead we could come to a deal regarding compensation.
Please let me know!
AlaskanWolf 01-22-2004, 04:15 PM there are a few other scripts out there that we use (including in house scripts) to find abusive customers that don't rely just on hits and do pretty good jobs in finding them....always good to have as many tools in your arsenal as possible...
What also worries me is the inablity for the maker to respond to even the most basic requests, either it be a demo, flash demo, or just basic information about the script his trying to sell.

On top of that he has never responded to my demo request as a reply, or my beta request via email, or my more info request via email OR MY msn requests!? If you make a product and have the time to keep posting on this thread why not respond to possible sales questions?
Now I'm worried about the script itself since the developer never bothers to reply to my questions. What happens when I have a question and email you - I'll never get a response probably after I purchase it?
As already asked twice now - will this work with Cpanel?
How does this work? With multiple log file checks or just one log file?
Veridian - Shneur 01-23-2004, 08:27 AM Hi everyone!
Regarding Betas/Demos:
We have requested only 1-2 beta testers and already are in the process of finishing the beta for final release.
Please no more beta/demo requests - We will post here updates when the demo is available for instant download.
Regarding Compatibility:
Yes! htop works with WHM/CPanel, Ensim, Plesk, Alabanza, H.sPConmplete, and all other control panels installed on a unix-based OS.
In fact we focused special attention on compatibility with CPanel since it is a very (if not the most) common hosting control panel.
We are not here on Saturday in obervance of the Jewish Sabbath.
Have a great weekend and Shabbat Shalom!
Veridian - Shneur 01-26-2004, 07:35 PM WARNING: Although we are making this demo available for download, htop-demo is still beta software. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. PLEASE DO NOT USE htop-demo ON PRODUCTION SERVERS.

chrisS 02-09-2004, 04:39 PM So $50 to run
top | grep httpd
GWDGuy 02-09-2004, 06:06 PM Actually I think the idea behind the script is to show Who the actual user is. that command will only tell which process but not the user?? Unless I am doing it wrong.
:D
Robert
chrisS 02-09-2004, 06:34 PM you would have to get the user by child process than site , why doesnt htop have the process id? htop looks more of a webstats than 'top' get the same data from SetHandler server-status
AlaskanWolf 02-09-2004, 06:57 PM i dont see this as being a very useful script simply because they use "hits" to base usage on, and their "beta" doesnt even work.....
For the cost you would pay this guy to buy a script that you
1. cant even view the source of because he silmly makes it so that the program deletes itself after its run each time...
2. relys on downloading the script from his servers
3. even at that point, i couldnt get the script to work, the guy never repiled to our emails telling them so
GWDGuy 02-09-2004, 08:15 PM I have not tried the script.
What I am surprised is that if this script is possible why no one has done it before..
I am not the best at the command line but I figure if one person could make it so could any other *nix guru
Robert
AlaskanWolf 02-09-2004, 09:40 PM Im going to stick with our inhouse scripts which do just fine for us, they usually find 90% of the high abusing customers, no sense in wasting $50 on something that doesnt work
