1 week ago I enquired at managed.com and from their site it looks really appealing and very good value for money. So good infact that I decided to go ahead and try out one of their servers, after waiting for a few days for the server I thought "hang on what the hells going on" I did not have any indication about setup time etc so I phoned them all the way from the U.K to California. To my amazement I got in touch with the same guy who seemed to be on the recorded messages on the phones about their sales team being too busy to accept calls...
Finally got through after but that was after sending emails etc, spoke to the guy and he said that it would be a weeks wait for the server to be setup, so I am thinking fair enough 1 week means they probably have a really good network etc and they are setting things up........ ...... ..... ..... ..... ..... a few days go by and I am getting anxious about what’s going on with my server so I phone the dude @ 12:00 my time in the night because of the time zone difference and their time its like 4:00 in the afternoon, when I speak to they same guy over the phone he says "ohh we have not charged your card yet and the server has not been setup yet". I reply to the guy "Listen please let me know in the next 5 minutes if you are going to have space on the switches for a machine for me or I will go elsewhere", 35 mins later I get an email with my login details for the illustrious server,
Finally I login to the server and the obvious thing to do is up2date the system and sort out a firewall, after that is to do the necessary speed test and ping tests etc, Well to my attention comes that the machine is only moving along @ 10mbs instead of the advertised 100mbs so the first reaction is to phone the support about it, 12:45 my time about 4:45 their time I gives them a call and speak to the same guy who seems to be the salesman tech support and the dude who grabs the coffee and donuts about the problem and he responds with "ohh no our servers all come with a 10mbit capped port because a 100mbit dedicated link to abovenet will cost $5000 per month, in my tiredness I responded with well that’s not what was advertised and hung up the phone and thought about the day ahead,
This evening after coming to a conclusion that in every nook and cranny of http://www.managed.com it says nothing about a 10mbit port so decided to get some advice about the situation and all the people that I showed the site to said they were in actual fact advertising a false product so in common terms "FALSE ADVERTISING" witch I believe is illegal in some states and should be reported to the BBB.
I phoned the guy again at managed.com and he was quite rude at first about the whole situation and after giving him 2 alternatives which were either give me a refund or I take legal action against him for false advertising he asked me to send an email to his manager to get put it in writing to terminate the service of my server .So Success finally we had a small bit of good management,
Half an hour later I got an e-mail confirming that my account had been credited the money that had been taken out a few days earlier had been returned in fear that the knowing managed.com would infact be reported to the right authorities.
