Through out price for now.

Who is the best dedicated hosting company. Best support, fastest connections, best uptime etc.

Cheers

There is no right answser for your question. There are some very high quality dedicated hosts. But there is really no single best company.

I have heard good things about rackspace.com, which seems to be the closest thing to your question. But their price is also very high

Personally, I have a server at multipleimage.com, and they has been great.

A better question is "what are the hosts one must avoid?".

I think most people who are in this business for long term goals will all try to be honest and do their best.

But there are some who are there trying to rip people off with lousy service.

Dialtone internet is such as bad business, once you signed with their 12 months cntract with prepay of first + last month payment, and the requirement of canceling by regular mail only one month in advance, you are committing yourself to frauds which will costs you a lot of money and major harm to your business.

We have learnt this in a very hard way.

I haven't heard a single bad thing about Rackspace.com -- and you should expect to pay through the nose for their 'fanatical service'. :-)

Enter efreeservers.com , check "Match partial name," see what reading there is.

How long have you been with them?

At WHT, efreeservers.com is pretty well known, good or bad:D

Maybe you ought to do search as "SoftWareRevue" suggest.

By the way, your name sounds Korean.
Are you?
Just curious:D

Even with "Fanatical Support" you should look for good hardware and bandwidth. I have gone through a few hosts. Starting with a shared server and working up to dedicated servers.

Plan to support yourself - I haven't had any support tickets (ok maybe one or two) resolved in a manner which I would call acceptable.

DNS will be a decision. DNS continues to be a problem because I haven't added that to my plate - enough to support already. However, a few more problem like I have had recently and.....

So the best host is you.........

I've been using Rackspace for 2 years and while their network was very unreliable for the first year, it's been great for the last 12 months.

However, they are a bit on the expensive side, particularly the way they charge high setup fees, plus high per-month charges for hardware upgrades (rather than a one-off fee for hardware, which I prefer).

I don't need any support (I've never used Rackspace's, since we can support ourselves)--any suggestions on someone with a high network reliability, one-off hardware charges, flexible configuration, and good pricing for Linux boxen. Quality of support doesn't matter, as long as their network stays up and they reboot your machine when told to.

Contact Tim at multipleimage.com
I got 4 servers with him and he is Very friendly guy:)

And no need to call them to reboot the server since all my servers
are configured with remote reboot. I can reboot myself instantly
and works like charm:)

I would recommend WeinBar. I have had a dedicated server with them since March this year and the network reliability has been very good, fast and no noticeable outages at all as I can recall. I have had no HW problems either and as I understand they use Dell HW.

WeinBar is a good choice if your priority is network reliability and quality rather than support.

We just never got around to fixing it up, but we have over 300 servers under our managment, that should inspire some confidence.

If you click the big orange order button at the top it works but everywhere else that says "order" or "customize" doesn't work still. That's definitely not good.

I can't seem to find a working link on the web-site that provides pricing for customised Linux dedicated servers. Can someone please post a working link, or post a summary of component setup/monthly prices, or email me at <jhoward> <at> <fastmail>DOT<fm> with a pricing schedule. I'm looking at 1GB RAM, 2x60GB HDD, 800MHz PIII, 20GB b/width; but I'd like to know individual componenet prices.

Also, do pwebtech offer free upgrades every 6 months to current hardware, like Burstnet do?

PS: Seriously guys, making it hard for potential customers to find pricing and to order is a really big turn-off!...

I think it's ironic that web hosts tend to have disorganised and unfinished web sites. However, you can't judge anything at all about the quality of a host from their web site.

I am a happy Pegasus (pwebtech) customer. So far so good. :)

I just noticed this post.

We have had much trouble with web designers.

Hopefully our site will be done in about 2 weeks.
