View Full Version : Problems with Hostmatix. Pls read...
PEACEin2k3 01-18-2004, 12:30 PM Hello everyone.
First i will explain you my problem:
4 days ago, without a warning, my main domain stopped working, and so did the mail servers etc. This was a disaster for me, because i did not get some very important emails.
I contacted the support about it. They told me that my domain expired and that i forgot the renew it. What ?
My main domain included in my package i pay for expired ? How can this be? In my control center, the stats state that the domain will expire in 2004!
So i again contacted the support, but they never replied again. I wrote two more tickets, but noone replied.
So, i ask you, what can i do ?
Have i done something wrong?
How can this be ?
Thank you very much for your help,
Yours
PEACEin2k

Welcome to the future. The year is 2004. ;)
Check whois for the domain at http://dnsstuff.com
It should tell you the expiration date near the bottom.
PEACEin2k3 01-18-2004, 12:45 PM lol, yes i knwo that we have 2004 :)
The control center says that the domain will expire : 2004/06/12
Info from your site:
"Status: registrar-lock
Creation date: 13 Jan 2003 20:21:44
Expiration date: 13 Jan 2004 20:21:44"
Brilliant, so what should i do ? :(
Thx for your help
Pheaton 01-18-2004, 12:53 PM who registered the domain? you or your host?
PEACEin2k3 01-18-2004, 12:56 PM My host. As i said, i did nothing, this was the domain i got for free with my package.
I dont really know what to do. Their support does not reply. I loose emails and visitors :((
thx again :)
Cirtex 01-18-2004, 12:58 PM Then it's your host's responsibility to have re-newed the domain. Or maybe you were supposed to tell them to re-new it. Try contacting them bout renewing the domain.
My guess would be that the package your purchased from them included a free domain name for a year?
If it's under registrar lock, you may be out of luck. Ask your hosting company to contact the registrar and see what can be done, if anything.
Was the domain registered in your name? I understand that they registered it, but they should have put you as the technical & administrative contact.

inteltechs 01-18-2004, 01:12 PM your host is suppposed to ask you if you want to renew the domain or not. I would say, pack your stuff, and find a new host.

PEACEin2k3 01-18-2004, 01:14 PM I just looked it uP:
One FREE Domain name (Registration)
No more info. For me it was clear that aslong as i am with them and pay my monthly stuff, i will have my domain.
The bad thing is that they do not reply.
Thx again for all your help.
I really dont know what to do anymore :(
If the domain is not in Redemption, just get it renewed from another Reseller of same Registrar...or directly with the Registrar. you can't transfer domain to another Registrar now since its expired.
Regarding, the host not replying...you have to ask yourself was their 24x7 support working fine before. If it wasn't, then you've delayed your new host search already...if the support was prompt till now...then they are IGNORING you because they know they just messed up.
Greetings,
Domain registration/transfer is offered free of charge for the first year and afterwards the renewal fee is US$ 15/year.
Our system automatically sends notifications to clients who got their domain soon to expire in order to take an action, whether renew or let it expire.
As our current records indicates, the notification was sent to you on the due date and apparently no action was made at your end, thus your domain is expired.
If you feel like renewing your domain, send an e-mail to domain@hostmatix.com with all the necessary information and request the domain renewal, you will be charged accordingly. Also note that once a domain is expired, you cannot transfer it to different registrar, unless its renewed with the current registrar.
We apologize for inconvenience this may caused. However it was not our responsibility. Previously we have had cases that we renewed the client's domain and they complained about it.

Amir Golestan

Hello Peacein2k3, I don't know how you're using the system, but all tickets get responded to within 5-20 minutes. Its practically impossible that you wouldn't get a reply in 4 days.
Good luck,

I'm afraid he has to renew it with his current web host. Once the domain is expired, no way he can transfer out of the registrar. He has to re-new it with his current registrar. Doubt he can pack without re-newing it.

Oh well so please tell me what i made wrong.
I wrote my tickets at the Support desk.
This time (DOMAIN RENEWAL) i wrote to the email stated above.
Guess what ?
No reply.
Greetings,
There's no way any ticket left without a response for 4 days! All the tickets are answered within approximately 20-25 minutes.
I personally checked the tickets you submitted and all of them were responded and was on pending (waiting for your approval on the charges ). If you have responded to them, for some reasons we have not received your replies.
As you approved the charges on this board, we renewed your domain and confirmation was sent to you from billing department.

I've transfered an expired domain away from Melbourne IT. Mind you, it has just expired that day, but it was approved. Not that I'm in the habit of letting domains expire, but it was registered with Bell Canada, and they decided not to send us any notices. So one day I got the melbourne IT notice that the domain has expired. I tried to re-register through their site and I couldn't, so I figured what the heck, I'll try a transfer and it worked :D
With regardes to the ticket issue, please remember that no one is perfect. Every person (and company) makes a mistake every now and then. You shouldn't take the "that's impossible, and never happened" stance, or when the facts come to the surface, you may end up with egg on your face.
eqtitan 02-06-2004, 01:57 AM I have had outstanding service with hostmatix.com, although on a few occasions I waited longer then 25min sometimes 2-4 hours for a reply (pre-sale questions).
Like right now?
