Greg 09-30-2000, 09:25 PM all the domains you have there are listed in groups of 30, find the one you want to change, then click on it, there you can edit any handles, names, owner, etc. with the online form. DynastyHost 09-30-2000, 09:31 PM What i mean is how can a client manage his/her domain name when he registered with someone using bulkregister? superiorhost 10-01-2000, 03:10 AM NO. When bulk register first started, they said they would make it so the customers (domain owners) could manage their own domains. It is not done, nore have their been anymore talk of it happening. After being a bulkregister member, and registering around 800 domains, it is easy to see why we now register domains through the twocows openSRS system. The BR customers have to email the web host that they bought the domain from, and pray they haven't gone out of business and actually do the changes requested in a timely manor. The alternative is emailing bulk register support, who will only make the changes if you have tried all possible ways to contact that old host. I recommend getting domains that allow the customers to do their own transfers in a web interface. It is simple to change registrars now days. Tim L Chicken 10-01-2000, 11:07 AM Boy, that adds another monkey in the works. So your client would have to email *you* to change their nameserver info? Even when they AREN'T hosted by you anymore???? Am I correct in thinking this? What a pain in the donkey! CFoxHost 10-01-2000, 12:04 PM It's an even bigger pain for the domain holder that left the hosting company because of poor service to begin with. It's kind of depressing when I have to tell a new client that they have to ask their old host to change nameservers for them. Even if they feel confident that it won't be done for days, if at all. Of course they can email BulkRegister right away, but they are supposed to email the old host first. This problem also occurs when they use an OpenSRS registrar though and it was originally registered by the hosting company instead of the domain holder. Chicken 10-01-2000, 12:10 PM Originally posted by CFoxHost This problem also occurs when they use an OpenSRS registrar though and it was originally registered by the hosting company instead of the domain holder. That is true only if the hosts uses *their* profile to register domains through OpenSRS, and doesn't create a seperate profile for the domain. Also, you can assign another profile to the domain that will give the customer control. DynastyHost 10-01-2000, 02:53 PM Thanks Chicken.. That is my solution now :) superiorhost 10-02-2000, 03:12 AM I know I speak for a lot of us hosts, when I say, it will be a good day when Internic makes a rule against hosts putting their info as the admin contacts on domains. It only causes big problems down the road, and the admin contact should be the owner... Always. We never register a domain with us as the admin, and I personally don't think it should be any other way. Every registry sees this problem many times a day... you would think they would empose a rule with a fine to help prevent it. What do you guys think ? Tim L superiorhost 10-02-2000, 03:19 AM Sorry, I forgot to ad,,, the opensrs when registered correctly, only allows the admin (owner of the domain) to know the password. If they ever loose it, opensrs, or the site they got it through can email them the password. They can make their changes at Any opensrs affiliate site or the main opensrs site too. That is thinking of the customer on their part. You hosts should look it over. Tim L |
