before Chicken kicks me out for asking so many domain questions,
guys tell me quickly how is www.register.com ( not registar.com)
- 100% uptime and support
- allows to change nameserver info every other day :D
I am planning finally for some non-com names - any idea whether .ro will be as fast , as good and as uptime-d as .com names ?
thannxxx
ps - its still not clear to me what records are changed ( like nameserver info is changed by you when you change host) when you change from one registrar to another registrar.
qsn no 2 - does it matter if registrar goes down for some time ? I mean is not the info cached all across the globe ?

Heh, you are safe, don't worry. As for changing from one registrar to another, and this only applies to com/net/org at the time of the transfer, you enter in information at the new registrar and that information generally shows up. You may need to update something afterwards, but nameserver info always seems to transfer (same as it was).
good that chicken did not kick me out
but others seem to have.
I need some answers - any one ,pleaseeee ?

I don't know who runs the registry for .ro names, but two things:
One, .ro doesn't sound all that familiar, and I'd personally stick to .com unless it is for a personal site (and even then, I'd personally stick to .com)
Two, the information that the .ro registry keeps, is cached among many ISP's and I don't think you'd have a problem.
Thankxxx Chicken.
Finally I went for a .ro domain with www.register.com to be hosted by affordablehost.com - Tina's only client with a .ro name it seems ;)
Now for those who are reading this thread my conclusion in short
dont go for a .ro name
Those interested in a long story can read below :
I had previous experience with non-com names - .ws and .cc - both the nics are extremely modernized, smooth to operate and the moment you register you can login and change/edit DNS info through a manager as often as you like. With .ws you can even do a global tracking to see whether rest of the world has updated.
With .ro + register.com things are different.
I entered my Domain Manager to find it has no "edit domain" button - no mention of this exceptional feature in the confirmation mail I got after registering with register.com.So I submitted a ticket and as I was waiting for an answer I got a very long mail from rnc.ro ( I thought I was dealing with register.com only as I made the payment to them & did not expect anyone else to get my email addy or send me mail)which contained some tough to understand stuff like -- "You are very kindly asked to allow zone transfer for the machines ftp.rnc.ro (192.162.16.79),sever.rotld.ro (192.162.16.225) and s2.rnc.ro (192.162.16.6). These two machines run software for the validation of the nameservers delegated to the .ro domains. Also RIPE hostcount statistics depend on this data."
Not knowing what to do and wondering whether to submit another ticket I somehow found it hidden under heaps sublayers of FAQ in register.com that you are indeed supposed to go without an "edit DNS" button - for that you have to email ( another ticket to register.com) - also you cannot make any change for the first 30 days. It is a long FAQ - I am reading it still and may be it contains more such facts which will make me slap my face myself for being such a fool.
Moreover I need both the IP number and the nameserver names which I am supposed to email them to edit my DNS.Stupid intelligence ! Now let me check whether I got IP and names both from Tina - I think they sent me the names only .....
Wish some one warned me here before :(
Anyway - do what Chicken or any terrestrial does - go for .com names , not for .ro names
unless you want to have some extraterrestrial thrill I am having now.
I am going to have one more .com name ( stargate?daddy?gkg?) may be with HostExp (in the new house).
