View Full Version : Verisign Locked a Client out ot their own domain

I have a client that registered a domain name through verio back in 2000 with an expiration date of 2004 and verisign decided to place the domain on hold. Verisign claims my client had out of date contact information and had a right to place the hold. Verio had the same info, and was able to send us a renewal notification. I can still log into the control panel for the domain at verio. Verisign says they will get back to me within 5 - 10 days. I am close to the window for missing the ability to transfer the domain.

What really gets me going is my client registered about 15 domains at the same time, with the same contact info and they only placed a hold on the one domain ( a really good one).

Is there a process with ICANN that will allow me to get the domain back in a timely manner? Thanks in advance for your input.

PS: I am trying to get all of his domains away from verisign and did so with my own domains a long time ago.

Makes you wonder what other legal scam will NetSol devise in order to keep the domains of those suckered into the recent free registrations :D

doesn't verisign own all of .com and .net anyways though?

no?

I don't mean own...

I mean that it all goes through them anyways since the W3C gave them the responsibility of the .com and .net TLD's.

Or am I mistaken?

I contacted verisign and they told me to contact verio (who used netsol/verisign to register names) to fix the problem. Verio tells me they no longer have an association with verisign and they can't help me - call netsol. Verisign tells me I am not their customer and cannot help me. - Aggravating to say the least.

I personally prefer NameCheap.com which is very reliable and has the ability to use PayPal accounts as a method of payment.

GoDaddy.com is also pretty good.

I have just transferred the domain away from Netsol after reacquiring the domain name. It was quite a process to get the name back in my client's name. No one was able to explain how the domain registered through verio came under the control of Netsol, but it is nice to have it locked with another registrar.

My best guess is that Netsol sent my client a renewal notification even though my client was not a customer of netsol. He may have paid their bill, initiating a transfer. Netsol then for some reason removed my client's name from the contact and registrant information.

I look forward to the day when Netsol has to relinquish control of the TLD's to another company before they file for chapter 11.

i doubt verisign will lose the .com and .net just like they lost the .org :)

because verisign has sold netsol to another company i believe.
