The Laughing Cow 10-03-2001, 02:22 PM http://acsdatanet.com/linux_dedicated.php they do servers from like $69-95/month- there must be a catch? why so cheap? SpeedHost 10-03-2001, 04:52 PM Well, they are cheap servers... =P JoseQ Neko =^.^= 10-03-2001, 07:27 PM [removed] Hmm, I thought we were allowed to delete posts? CagedTornado 10-03-2001, 07:35 PM I really take issue with the comment 'with a cheap connection'. Apparently, Neko hasn't taken the time to read up on the Pajo.com NOC -- and I'm sure Alex (from Pajo) would have a thing or two to say about that. The connection is 'inexpensive' perhaps -- compared to some -- but hardly worthy of a cheap shot by someone who doesn't point out any specific gripes. If you're interested, I host with them. They have a connection that has been consistently up and VERY fast for the last 2 months. I mention Pajo.com, because ACSDatanet has a private suite with them (so sayeth Pajo.com). The servers are built by Clint from ACSDatanet (as far as I know) and note the $150 setup fee... which is (I would guess) to cover building the server. The plan you're talking about doesn't come with a whole lot of RAM, doesn't have SCSI drives, isn't a true P III or P4 machine, and doesn't have RAID (of any level) or a tape backup system. You're getting a system that is barebones, but that Clint will upgrade (for a price). I upgraded the RAM in my server (for example) for a one time fee. I have nothing but good things to say about them so far. I've been with them for 2 months, I don't expect a lot of tech support for that price, and I haven't been surprised by anything yet. Dan Neko =^.^= 10-03-2001, 08:16 PM Well, maybe I should take back my comment...it's not that it's cheap at all...in fact it's very expensive. ReliableServers 10-04-2001, 02:29 AM I believe you open your mouth before you know anything.....so <please refrain from posting> until you have facts. Nothing but good things have been said of acsdatanet on this board. <<MOD NOTE:>> Just to avoid a possible flame war, I've changed the tone of the post, while keeping the point the same. The comments were removed by the poster, so let's leave it at that. <</MOD NOTE>> rmartin 10-04-2001, 03:38 AM Hello, There doesnt seem to be any catch Each package on that page according to the description near the bottom comes with 40GB per month, therefore paying for the better server eg) one of the linux advanced ones does not get you anymore bandwidth, just a more powerful server based on that assumption It would seem that the lower priced packages offer the best alround perfomance as personally i wouldnt want to pay $800 for the top server without getting more bandwidth included in the price, as exceeding the 40GB with that package would incur the $800 + $2.95 per GB If you know what i have just said to be wrong then please let me know, but i have merely looked at it from a customers point of view Many Thanks |
