Just out of interest, did anyone actually sign up for colahost? I'm just wondering if they lived up to their promises as there was a lot of controversy on a number of websites including this one when the host first appeared. http://www.colahost.co.uk if anyone wants a look.

We lost a customer to them. The customer just contacted us yesterday to complain that DNS wasn't resolving to them and Colahost blamed us (not very nicely, I might add).

I tried to explain the the lost customer that since we aren't hosting their domain name anymore - it is impossible for us to fix it.

I'd like to see any negative posts, if you know of them offhand.

I'm not surprised they were rude to you! I've just been looking through their support forum and they don't seem to be a friendly bunch. Well, when I say friendly thye seem very indirect to their cistomers if you know what I mean. I wonder if their servers are actually based in a "multi-million pound UK datacentre" I very much doubt it at around £10 per gig minimum for bandwidth. Theres no way they could afford to run servers in the UK at those prices.

Do you know of any negative posts made about them? I couldn't find any.

Think I got slightly mixed up. There was no discussion on colahost on WHT, I'm pretty sure it was on freewebspace, but I can't check as the site appears to be down.

Okay, if you do find them - please let me know. We lost the customer because they are less expensive than we are. I can totally accept that.

What I can't accept is Colahost's attitude and trashing my company for a problem that clearly has nothing to do with us. If I find similar stories, I will pass them along to the customer. Not for the purpose of getting the customer back - but for letting them know what they are dealing with.

I'll keep a look out for anyone who's had problems with them. I must say, I agree with what your saying about their attitude, quite shocking really. I wonder if they actually undertsand anything about DNS etc.

£10 per GB is actually pretty expensive for UK prices - I believe you can get it at around £4.50 for a Telehouse based server.

Prices are as cheap as £3 per GB if you shop around...

Yeah, but even with those prices how you can offer unlimited traffic and diskspace for $20/£13 a year? Just a bit dodgy if you ask me.
