my raq4 from rackshack.net works fine in all aspects, but today i tried a manual backup in the admin gui.

I selected to backup all settings,files and data and clicked start backup. nothing happened... no prompt to ask me to save to my pc folder etc..

I telnetted into my server i watched top to see what it was doing... i see backup.cgi running for 35 seconds and then when i looked at the raq4 admin gui backup page it just displays can not display page or dns error?

forgot to mention i have 1.5gb of data in /home

when i do backup server configuration only it works and prompts to download a backup file.

i guess it's too much data files ??????

Yes.. the problem is the timeout of your browser.

The backup duration is to long.

I couldn't find the backup-file on my server and I think that this file would be generated and directly send to your browser through the backup.cgi

To solve the problem, you can make a scheduled backup to a ftp server or nfs/samba.

This should work with big home directories too :-)
