View Full Version : CONCERNED: CQHost.com
Guys I simply must have some help on this.
I have never paid for hosting before and I want to do it RIGHT the first time! You know when your shopping for something and sometimes the very first thing (or website in this case) that catches your eye is the one that turns out to be your perfect match? Well it turns out that I stumbled upon www.CQHost.com as the very first site of literally hundreds that I have reviewed for my personal site. They STILL are one of my favorites and I love their site design, true signs of a professional company...I hope...
Anyways, I am very worried about CQHost now. I have tried to contact their sales department 4 TIMES, and have not gotten a single reply. My first email was about 2 weeks ago, as well! :bawling:
I noticed that their headquarters are on Broad Street in New York City and I am wondering if they have been seriously affected by the disaster there a few weeks ago...
So I guess I need to know the following:
1) If there is someone who frequents this site that is a rep from CQHost who I can talk to.
2) If anyone currently hosting with them and how their experience has been.
3) And finally, if there is a better way to contact them that anyone knows about.
Hope we can come up with something here....and I also hope that their site isn't dead!

***** would be the winner then, but it's not always like that.
Yeah, I have to agree with that...looks aren't always EVERYHING. But it sure help not to have a site that looks like someone wrote it HTML 1.0 :eek2:
BTW, I have posted in PalmVersa's forum too! :) I was about to go for their special plan, but they discontinued it for the time being. :crying: Oh well, I will keep an eye on you guys. ;)
Anyways, I still would appreciate some feedback on CQHost's current situation from anyone who can give me a tip... thanks.

AH-Tina 10-02-2001, 11:35 PM They haven't answered 4 SALES emails and you're still considering them?!? What makes you think they will answer ANY of your emails AFTER they get your money???
--Tina
I know, Tina, but I still feel bad about them, something seems more off than simple "neglect" of their emails. I already was well aware that I wasn't going to START hosting with a company in a situation like that. Believe me, I had already thought of extacly what you said and I am planning NOT to START hosting with them, but I would like to hope that they are still operational. Especially from the older posts on this site about them, of which were largely positive, I believe it must be a SERIOUS problem they are having...
just trying to get to the bottom of things I guess...before I pass them up for good... :(
RotoHost 10-02-2001, 11:52 PM 2 weeks with no replies to 4 emails is a bit much. Like you, I'd be a bit concerned that everyone's OK following the disaster in NYC? Are they located close to the WTC?
Neko =^.^= 10-02-2001, 11:56 PM Well, most communications are back in Lower Manhattan, and basically everyone in the immediate area including myself were evacuated sucessfully...
Broad street has been reopened, I don't know...if you want me to check up on them, I might be able to check when my school (located 4 blocks from WTC north tower) reopens. Please tell me their address.
Neko =^.^= 10-03-2001, 12:01 AM Hmm...they're located on 80 Broad Street. Their employees should be fine, 90 Broad street/20 Stone Street is by Whitehall, so that's pretty close to the waterfront. Maybe their employees haven't returned yet. They certainly can get there.
See! I thought I might be right!
Jeez, CQHost's headquarters ARE on Broad Street...maybe they haven't even been able to get INTO their business!...eek...what a shame.
Anyways, I am glad your alright Neko. Jeez! It must be tough living so close to what these publicity-hungry reporters are still snobishly called :puke: "Ground Zero." Well I hope that everyone who you know is alright in NYC.
It's ironic that you actually LIVE by the VERY PLACE I was wondering about on this site, small world I guess. :) That would be cool if you could even see if those buildings are open...boy, I never thought I would be saying that on a chat like this one...wow.
Pffft, forget my emails, maybe CQHost has been PHYSICALLY unreachable until now...hmmm.
Trip
Neko =^.^= 10-03-2001, 12:08 AM The Broad Street subway station is open, although there is very heavy security. Businesses have reopened in the area...If their employees live in NJ, it may be a problem. There is a ban on single occupancy vehicles...I dunno. It is reachable if you have two photo IDs and proof that you work in the area.
AH-Tina 10-03-2001, 12:33 AM Well, I feel like a big neaner-head. I totally didn't get it that you were meaning they may have been effected by the WTC tragedy. :unhappy:
Obviously, if they were anywhere near that - you can probably (unfortunately) count on the fact that they have bigger problems than answering sales email. I wonder why their site is still up???

Relyc 10-03-2001, 01:20 AM Well, if they are devoted enough to their customers, I'm sure they would find a means to carpool or something and get into their building, to reply to emails at the very least.
Though I can see how the WTC tragedy would still be a major setback.
On a related but seperate note, I have PMed you with some information about the PalmVersa special that you may be interested in. If you're not sure how to check private messages, go into your profile, and click the link in there.
SI-Chris 10-03-2001, 04:51 AM Trip: It's thoughtful of you to consider the extenuating circumstances in what would normally be an inexcusable situation.
CQhost has a toll-free number listed in their domain registration information; why not try calling it? It is: 1-800-866-3824. (If you want to look at the WHOIS info yourself, go here: http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois?STRING=cqhost.com&SearchType=do )
I noticed that that phone number is also listed as their fax number, so it may not work for voice. If that's the case, faxing them a request to contact you might be another option.
Thanks for the input and for the PM. ;)
I would have to think that if they can gain access to their building sometime around now that the first signs of life will be on their Support site (I think its asksupport.com), in which the last news post was in mid-August. :uhh:
Well I will let you guys know what I manage to find out.

I'm thinking the OP probably chose a host by now. It's only been four years since the incident. :)
akashik 05-30-2005, 04:40 PM Well it's been almost four years since the last post, so I presume he would have gotten through by now. ;)
*edit*
Yeah, what ZapX said..
SpeedEXEC 05-30-2005, 05:01 PM Lets hope so.. if he's still looking, he certainly wants to get it right the first time! :P
bqinternet 05-30-2005, 05:48 PM I hope they have responded to the emails. 4 years to ignore a sales query is slightly rediculous ;)
As far as the original theories, I'm curious to know if the OP ever got in touch and found out what the problem was. My company had servers located on Broad Street on Sept 11 as well, but service was restored to them within a few days.
