May be a DNS problem. Check to see if you can send it to other e-mail addresses. Make sure they domain is not on the same server you are sending it from.
Steven 01-11-2004, 06:01 PM this should be in technical i think
freemancryin 01-11-2004, 06:04 PM yes I can send to any e-mail
But I still can't send to hotmail only ???
lgwong 01-11-2004, 06:06 PM I just post a mail on this issue at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=224942
I am suffering from exactly the same problem. It is not a DNS issue, I telnet directly to mail server of hotmail port 25 and send the mail.
freemancryin 01-11-2004, 06:09 PM what is the solution then ???
can u help me ??
Not sure, only thing I can think is that your server's IP is on a spam list.
freemancryin 01-11-2004, 06:12 PM Ok I change my site IP and still the same problem I can't send only to hotmail
totalservers 01-11-2004, 06:36 PM i've got the same problems on my ev1 server - can send mail to all other domains - but always have problems sending mail to hotmail...
e-creations 01-11-2004, 06:44 PM Hotmail is/has implemented a new spam filtering type service, it is affecting a lot of sites/mail servers. One thing though, you would have it much easier if you had rdns setup correctly, almost all the big services (AOL Hotmail, Yahoo etc.) are rejecting anything that doesn't come from a server with rdns.
freemancryin 01-11-2004, 06:46 PM what I must do Now ??
e-creations 01-11-2004, 06:47 PM contact your server provider and request they setup reverse dns for your box.
lgwong 01-11-2004, 07:19 PM My sservers has rnds setup properly, but 5 out of 6 servers cannot send mail to hotmail. It is not an issue of rnds.
totalservers 01-11-2004, 07:22 PM my reverse dns is also set up correctly - it can send to some hotmail inboxes and not to others.....i can even send to my own hotmail account!
lostsoul 01-13-2004, 05:56 AM My server will NOT send to any hotmail account. I should say it says it completes the send via the logs, but NO hotmail user actuallys gets the message.. NO errors from either end.. LIKE its lost in cyberspace.. Talk about REDUCING EMAIL.. THATS ONE WAY OF DOING IT.. ..
:(
IM hosted with SM..
Hotmail better fix it soon..
sprintserve 01-13-2004, 08:46 AM Did any of your users happen to have perhaps setup a domain hotmail.com?
lostsoul 01-14-2004, 12:35 AM NO "hotmail" domains accounts on my server. I still have this issue.
Having the same problem here with not being able to send mail to hotmail accounts - my servers are also located at servermatrix, and have RDNS / PTR records setup and working.
my_forum_id 01-15-2004, 05:33 PM I was so glad to see this post, I've spent most of the afternoon trying to find out why we can't get mail out to hotmail any more and it's a relief to see it's not just us !
We too have our servers at servermatrix - has anyone found anything out yet ?
Servermatrix staff are investigating the issue according to my ticket - the people at hotmail are taking ages to reply.
Node50 01-16-2004, 01:18 PM We are having a similar problem and host on server matrix. We can send to hotmail and yahoo, but mail sent to an email address hosted on an ev1 server is disapearing into a black hole. We also stopped receiving our log watch emails from the matrix server on 13th - these were also sent to our ev1 based email address.
I have raised a SM support ticket.
We were getting very confused by this, then I discover that others are having problems - so whilst that puts my mind at rest (it's not something we have done), it does mean we're now stuck waiting for SM to get back to us/resolve the problem.
FliesLikeABrick 06-30-2006, 07:33 PM Sorry to bump an old thread, I don't know what WHT's policy is on reviving old threads is yet (but feel free to mention it in a reply or PM)
I have spent the past 2 weeks troubleshooting e-mail problems from my servers and high-traffic sites. about 5% of e-mails to hotmail accounts seem to fail, though if the e-mail or another e-mail is sent again, it'll work (aka it is a random problem, not account-based).
Their server replies with the success message "Queued mail for delivery" to every message, both the ones that succeed and disappear. Most get delivered instantly, but others show up hours, days or any other time later... or not at all.
I've confirmed with about 50 different people that the messages did not end up being filtered as spam.
This thread seems to highlight a bunch of people having the same exact problem on servers that are configured 110% propely.
I can't believe that hotmail has had these problems for so long and haven't done anything to resolve them.
If anyone has insight on what is causing it or how to circumvent it, please do share. As of yet, I'm just thinking it must be a race condition within their system internals/configuration or it must be that they occasionally have a bad server in their [probably mahoosive] mailserver rotation.
