NetXL 10-02-2001, 08:25 PM That's really cool! Will help out some new providers that want to offer Win2k hosting :D.

If that's true then it's something new - when we qualified we had to attend a session in-person. It was a good program, to be sure, but it was a long day (here in Massachusetts their offices are in Waltham - which, for anyone who knows this area, is in the 128 tech corridor - which means traffic. 5 hours of driving for a 4 hour class

multipleimage 10-04-2001, 12:00 AM do they approve 1 in 100000000?
sbrad 10-07-2001, 03:54 AM They'll send you the cd. It's a boring couple of hours, but you watch it and then go to their website and take the quiz. Don't worry if you don't pass it. Just keep taking it.
multipleimage 10-07-2001, 04:01 AM I suppose it is worth this test and cd for a free copy
Skeptical 10-08-2001, 06:17 AM I have much distain and distrust for Microsoft. Look at what they're trying to pull with WinXP and all the upgrading fees.
Next thing you know you'll be forced to dump all of your linux dns servers because of some "un-intentional" ;) incompatibility. That'll be the end of dns wildcards (ms dns doesn't support that).
And then customers will cry foul because ms dns server "un-intentionally" (yeah I'm repeating this word again I know) fails to communicate with your linux web servers.
You eventually dump linux because you think linux sucks (when it's ms pulling the prank).
Just when M$ barely wins the war they end their "free" promotion and start charging you up the ying yang with licensing fees. What then? Too late.
M$ wins and linux loses. You lose customers. But who cares, Gates gets richer.
** The above is just a figment of my imagination. Pay no attention to me.
Note to Taliban: All your base are belong to us.

What's next? Are you going to say that Bill Gates is a member of the Illuminati/Freemasons?
Hmm.. Well, that was more of a conspiracy theory approach but one never knows.. ;)
Either way, after reading about all this XP BS i'm fairly sick of Microsoft gimmicks. Microsoft's obviously trying to grow it's share in the server OS Market. This is just another way of trying to stuff it into various bodily oriphices of potential licensee's.

That was purely my imagination playing tricks on my keyboard. ;)
But the broader point I was making is that one can't trust M$ to not mess with you later for their strategic gain. They've done that so many times before and continue to do so today.
Btw, what is Illuminati/Freemasons? Tell me and I'll weave another conspiracy theory with them in it. :)
UmBillyCord 10-09-2001, 02:08 AM Lets see.....
- Create inferior product (IE Browser, Word) - Compete against quality competitors (NS Browser, WordPerfect) - Lose - Give away for free - kill competition - dominate market.
Now try that against Linux. Hmmm already free. What next????
I took the test online about 5 months ago and passed. I received my Windows Web Hoster Program Kit a few days later which included Windows 2000 Adv. Server.
Great deal! It's hard to beat since it's free!
