Recently at a cyber cafe, I couldn't get to my website or control panel by entering the address as usual, but the IP worked. I decided to change a script that linked to images on my site so it now uses the IP instead of the domain name. Is this a good idea?

If it works, generally no harm. If your IP ever changes, change the IP in the script, no biggie usually.
