Just curious.....
![]() | View Full Version : Does anyone get any sales from theis forum? Coran 10-02-2001, 04:25 PM Just curious..... reflexhost.com 10-02-2001, 04:28 PM Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this thread, but yes, we get sales from it - and, I enjoy the atmosphere this board has, it's good to talk to other hosts, and clients of other hosts.... Eladesor 10-02-2001, 04:58 PM Hi, Must admit I 'lurk' more than I post, purely because I find this forum informative and helpful. From the occasional posts that I have made, I have been quite (pleasantly :) ) surprised. My log stats show a lot of links from this forum and we do have a steady flow of customers. I'm only sorry (hind sight) that I never set up a method of judging if posting in the forum and the steady flow of customers are related. Though I'm sure they have been :) Regards Eladesor Kylecool 10-02-2001, 07:09 PM Yes, a lot of hosts get major bucks from the great deals here. I like to browse a lot, but pwebtech offers a lot of dedicated server specials that they get a lot of customers from. Edi is soo cool too. :) -Kyle iwannabe 10-03-2001, 12:53 PM I imagine so. I don't think hosting co. will spend their time on this forum if they don't get sales. Matter of fact, I signed contract with multipleimage for 4 dedicated servers just last month. Coran 10-03-2001, 04:15 PM Thanks for the feedback. Guess we'll join in the fun :) Walter 10-03-2001, 04:19 PM Originally posted by iwannabe I don't think hosting co. will spend their time on this forum if they don't get sales. Ok, that's part of the game, but I think it's very interesting even for a knowledgable host to share his opinion with other hosts, see what customers are demanding. And beside that, it's fun. Seer 10-03-2001, 05:10 PM I've signed up for hosts through references in this forum, but it's not for the advertising that's constantly thrown around in here. You can get a good idea of what hosts have their head on straight by reading through threads. Those that just come in and start advertising their unlimited bandwidth specials for 25 cents a year I just ignore. Those that act as professionals, look professional and have a reputation that reflects it are the type I look for. Eladesor 10-03-2001, 05:21 PM seer: Absolutely correct. Advertsing has its values, but a more formidable force to be reckoned with is is honesty. I personaly believe that customers are more likely to be tolerant of the odd 'hiccup' even forgiving if their host doesn't know everything - providing they are imformed. So yes, I would agree, the majority of hosts that receive 'custom' via this forum are those who are perceived just as you have pointed out. Regards Eladesor. Justice 10-03-2001, 06:46 PM I agree with everything Seer said and I think this site is just as much a resource for consumers as it is for hosts ckpeter 10-04-2001, 05:51 PM Well, everything I know about hosting I learn from this site(almost). I also found my dear dedicated server here(thanks to tim at multipleimage.com). That's how useful it is. I thought I was only customer since his replies to my emails were so fast :D Or, could there be more than one Tim at multipleimage:confused: :D :D mybiz 10-04-2001, 11:19 PM I agree you can get customers from this forum. There is numerous people that are unhappy with their old host and they come to us... :-) alchiba 10-04-2001, 11:38 PM And the customers are pretty high quality too. By that I mean they do their homework by coming to places like WHT, ask the right questions and form clear expectations. A good working relationship develops from that. akashik 10-05-2001, 10:57 AM We get a fair bit of traffic from this forum (amongst a few others) - how much of it translates in customers is hard to say, but there's no complaints on growth. I think it's fair to say just posting won't help generate sales, but people who come here often tend to see the same hosts sticking around and helping out where they can, and it creates a sense of trust in those people that there's an ethic involved. Conversely the hosts that show up for 10 posts, have 5 removed for spamming, and gibber at people for the rest tend not to attract too many clients I would imagine :D People are pretty smart these days, and if they're going as far as reseaching hosts on a forum or three, then they're going to have their eyes pretty wide open to what they're reading. If the main drive for posting on a forum is sales, then the response may be pretty lukewarm - if you're answering their questions about anything here, and they like what they hear, *then* they might just start looking at you as a possible host. Greg Moore Jedito 10-05-2001, 11:25 AM We have a bit of traffic from here, but not too many sells. Maybe is because there are a lot of host in this forum with lower prices than us. |
