When setting up a new Raq4, is there a short cut in gettting it up to date on software?

unfortnatly, no. Start your way at the bottom and work your way to the top, missing the apache update ( I warned you ).

Can you be more specific on this?

"missing the apache update ( I warned you )."

PCI:

What haze is saying is that a lot of the people who post on this board have reported problems after installing the Apache update.

There is a little note under that update that I think would explain it better than I can but hey, here I go. The version of apache that is posted conflicts with a certain ( im not sure which ) versions of chilisoft ASP.

You can get a Patch from ChiliSoft

The conflict was between the Apache Update and ChiliSoft ASP 3.6
The Patch is named RaQ4-ASP-Apache-update.pkg

Get it from ChiliSoft and all works fine :-)

Ran into problems installing the darn first one.

7657 (Front page update).

When it starts to install, I get an error message:

"le to patch files "

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dan

You can also download the OS Restore CD ISO from cobalt ftp.. and then you have all updates until 12. May 2001 :-)

Yes, there surely is a shortcut -- even though it seems that I'm the only one here that ever though of it :-)

I simply use wget to download all the PKGs in one go. Use the Cobalt updates page as a starting link for the wget mirroring feature.

Now I simply use a tiny perl script to read the wget logfile and retrieve all the names of the PKG files - and then reverse the list. That's the order in which they are to be installed.

Now simply let the perl script run /usr/local/sbin/cobalt_upgrade on each file.

Remember to do a reboot afterwards (and to keep a logfile of what happened, so that you can check for errors that might come up).

Where can I find the cobalt iso you mentioned?

I've just tried installing the apache update from the cobalt site but I jus get something like "error in patching web admin ..."
any idea why it does this, does it meen that it is already installed (with the other updates, it said "already installed" when it was already installed",

Here's my resolution to the original problem.

The Raq arrived with several system patches already installed.

This required me to use the thing that my hat sits on. So, with certain patches already installed, I didn't have to start at the bottom of the list.

I.E. RaQ4-en-OSUpdate-1.0.pkg was already installed, so trying to load FrontPage 0.0.1-7657 was going to work since it is replaced in the OSUpdate 1.0.

So, I went through and found where the patches left off and went on from there.

Thanks for everyones replance.

Dan
