Would just first of all like to say "Hi" to everyone on the boards. This is my first post (eeeek), so be nice if I leave something out... ;)

I am hosting a website for the first time and just wanted to see what everyone's general opinions were on the most popular panels...

I take it that would be CPanel 2 or 3 and Plesk 2.0 ???

I must be leaving other suff out, but those are the main ones I see around (for BUDGET hosting anyways).

Are older versions of CPanel (sub v.3) good as well?

Most Cpanel licenses include upgrades to the next version, so I'd be surprised if you found many companies using older versions... and the older ones seem to be more buggy.

Plesk and Cpanel 3 do seem to be the most popular though.

cpanel and plesk are the most popular. I would look into h-sphere now too

Go for H-Sphere, it's a very good Control Panel and most of all they listen to you and evolve their software regarding the clients interests.
