OK has anyone noticed how this image, which can be found at http://resellerplan.com/images_files/servers.jpg and a LOT of other sites is being used by like... everyone?

I mean, isnt that image copyrighted and licensed? If im correct didnt communitech orignally make that?

But copyrights and trademarks are only good if someone wants to go after the people and sue. So no image police, image is illegal but until someone says stop it will continue.

That particular icon can't be copyrighted by Communitech or anyone else. It is derivative of the original smiling face that has long been in the public domain.

it could be copyrigthed if they wanted to... but in this case I believe they prefer to see their servers worldwide instead of suing someone for giving them free advertising :)

how is that free advertising for sun? :P

ther is nothing to show its a SUN system and any normal user wouldnt know to be like "wow thats a sun server I need to get me one of those"

I don't think a company should use a picture of a server that is nothing like the ones they use.

For instance a picture of a Sun, when you use Linux.

It does seem a bit dishonest to do so. Although I have no idea what servers he is using.

One a brand name, the other an OS... not sure of the connection, but anywhooo. You surely shouldn't use those pictures if say... the servers are *actually* like the ones from whhq.net !
