I need your opinion on server located in several German ISPs.

I am given a choice to have it in:

Gatel: 81.2.129.130
Tiscali: 81.3.19.130
Telia: 82.96.75.99
InterXion: 212.211.136.2

May I know which is the best in your opinion?

i'd prefer telia b/c it has the best ping for me ( at least right now )

pings are usually a lot better.. dunno whats going on today :D

- Gatel got problems with their power supplies, alone in 2003 there where 5 or 6 major outtages (probably spelled wrong), so I definetly wouldn't go to Gatel. Their Traffic is pretty good though.

- Tiscali is pretty good, no major problems in the past, their pings are a bit heigher though, so if you want to host gameservers, I wouldn't go with them

- Telia is only a "Reseller", they don't have a own DC or Traffic, at least I think so ;)

- Can't tell you anything about InterXion, sorry.

So if you would have to choose from the above 4, I'd definitly go with Tiscali. If money doesn't matter, or you want to host gameservers, than go directly to abovenet, or get housing from Telehouse, and the Connection from abovenet, theirs nothing better in Germany :)

(I'm with Abovenet now, and I'm very, very content with them. Before I switched, I had my server at Gatel ... )

[edit] Nevermind, I probably was thinking of someone else, Telia does have their own DC.

I tried tracing all of them and found out Telia and InterXion have the lowest. Tiscali has few weird routes but generally fine.

Therefore Telia and InterXion are my top choices. Tiscali should be after them. I will not consider Gatel as their latency is 2-3 times higher!

Hm, if the ping matters, try tracing 82.211.45.151 (Abovenet), my difference between Abovenet and Telia is about 10 ms.

What are you tracing/pinging at InterXion as they are a datacenter and not a provider?

I've got a friend with a server hosted at Tiscali and hes had about 5 hours of connection downtime per month. Whether thats acceptable to you or not is up to you, it wouldn't be acceptable to me but he doesn't mind it.

5 hours? Hell no, I think 20 minutes/month is quite a lot even, not to mention 5 hours :P

Mmh, sure it's not his own fault (ie. his server)? I never heard of that much downtime over at tiscali.

I wouldn't choose Telia, they have days that their international routing goes totally out of whack and pings almost double and this sometimes takes weeks to get sorted out.

Also some of my UK hostees have troubles accessing their sites when the routing takes them over Telia. Luckily my DC has now removed Telia from their routing.
