View Full Version : Paypal Subscriptions (recurring Billing)
paypaldamon 10-01-2001, 06:34 PM Hi,
Are there any users currently using this?
Any suggestions for product enhancement?
What would you like to see happen with the product?
I am just trying to get some feedback on pros and cons.
THANKS!
sbrad 10-01-2001, 06:47 PM What? PayPal has recurring billing now? Whatchutalkinboutwillis?
paypaldamon 10-01-2001, 06:50 PM Yes, the service is called subscriptions.
More information can be found here:

sbrad 10-01-2001, 06:54 PM Sweet. Is this new?
Also, does it allow me to have a one time setup fee plus one month's hosting, and then just the hosting fee every month thereafter?
paypaldamon 10-01-2001, 06:55 PM It has been out for a little over a month now. Let me check on the questions you posed.

thanks
paypaldamon 10-01-2001, 07:50 PM The Product team recommends modifying the Web Accept buttons for the set-up fee issue. You could then direct the party to a link via email (with the variables in Web Accept modified) to the Web Accept button for the set-up fees and first month.
I can have someone help with this (if needed).

Sounds like too big of a hassle to me. I think I'll just wait until the Product team decides to add that feature.
paypaldamon 10-01-2001, 08:04 PM The only other recommendation I can make, outside of the above, is to use the REQUEST MONEY feature for the first month. I think the first month/set-up fees combination would not work without a fair amount of re-design on our end. The subscription feature is set for monthly recurring issues, not for the set-up issues.
Thanks for the suggestion...I already passed it along.
Relyc 10-01-2001, 08:08 PM I'm going to be using it shortly, but not yet, so I'm not sure, but I'd like to be able to modify just one clients subscription.
Say for hosting, they decide they want another gb of transfer per month, I'd like to be able to modify just ONE account without having to set up a whole new subscription.
Is this possible?
sbrad 10-01-2001, 08:10 PM I started to declare this useless, but the request money feature sounds like a good idea. I suppose then, we could have someone go signup for subscription service, and have a 30 day free trial.
paypaldamon 10-02-2001, 02:03 PM The only way (currently) to do that is to cancel the subscription and set the customer up for a new one. Product is looking to see if they can build it so it is a little less complicated.
coolguy23 10-02-2001, 06:12 PM hey damon
i live in canada, will it be ok if i use it from here w/o a credit card?
paypaldamon 10-02-2001, 06:13 PM Not at this time. International users have to register a credit card because it is used for verification of the identity...we don't have such a system for debit cards currently.
InfoDoma 10-02-2001, 11:54 PM Hello.
Well, I am not a webhosting provider but currently, like others posted here, its a big hassle changing the subcription for a customer.
Hope it simplifies soon.
Asher S 10-03-2001, 01:07 AM You guys dont support Pakistan as a country. When are you gonna do that? Or is PayPal too 'big' to add one more country to their list?
paypaldamon 10-03-2001, 09:22 PM We would love to have everyone possible on our service. However, new countries are added based on:
a) partnerships we can establish with companies in the area
b) regulations present in the country
c) fraud rates in a country (high credit card fraud rate companies are excluded).
We will be adding some new countries as quickly as we can.
multipleimage 10-03-2001, 10:15 PM I will have to look into this feature. I have a few clients that want to use paypal
