View Full Version : Which Registrar Is the Best?
markblair 10-01-2001, 05:28 PM It's been awhile since I've seen a poll regarding registrars and I wanted to see what everyone thought of the list supplied. Also, if I missed any that you would recommend, post them here.
I currently use Dotster and price isn't all that important as is customer service. That is something they have been struggling with for awhile now.
MCHost-Marc 10-01-2001, 05:31 PM Why is NetworkSolutions not listed? :D :D :D
We use Dotster all the time...

I didn't want to get blasted by adding Network Solutions especially since I am not fond of them either...
SoftWareRevue 10-01-2001, 05:34 PM Stargate ;)

markblair 10-01-2001, 05:42 PM Yeah I thought of Stargate after posting. Don't think I can modify the poll!?!?!? I had bookmarked them from reading good reviews from others just like the ones I listed. Thanks for adding them to the equation.

I think enough people like and use them, they should be in there.
Although there are others I use; StarGate is my favorite for numerous reasons.
reflexhost.com 10-01-2001, 05:54 PM Hmm, I am sure many people would like to express their opinion on Netsol...
Personally, I am sure I could get a more useful response out of a brick wall at the other end of the phone at times...
SoftWareRevue 10-01-2001, 05:58 PM Maybe markblair should ask this thread to be closed. And start one about "Which Registrars would you like to see listed in a poll about registrars?"
And then restart the poll.
Just a suggestion. . . . .
Relyc 10-01-2001, 07:13 PM I have 5 domains with stargateinc.com and they work great.
I also have two domains with www.websurface.net no problems yet, and they have great support.
Chicken 10-01-2001, 08:12 PM Added Stargate, if that helps...

stodge 10-01-2001, 09:23 PM Can anyone recommend a good, cheap (important!) registrar for a .ca domain name? They don't have to be a Canadian company.
Thanks
creid 10-01-2001, 09:32 PM domainpeople.ca
for .ca domains;)
phpjames 10-01-2001, 10:35 PM What about directnic.com? I have used it and its pretty cheap too.

Done.
remarkable 10-02-2001, 01:12 AM OpenSRS is the most powerfull
stodge 10-02-2001, 02:36 AM Yowsers! Why is it so expensive to register a .ca domain name????
markblair 10-02-2001, 11:10 AM WOW, I can't believe that Stargate offers as much as they do for domain registration for only $8.85 per year. I now just have to find out if they support .INFO domains yet . Haven't seen anything on there site yet to support that or not. Will have to check and then I will be moving from Dotster to them.
Anyone have first hand experience on their support? Currently Dotster claims to respond within 24 hours to all requests but I have never had that happen.
RescueHst 10-02-2001, 11:42 AM How come register.com isnt up there.....
I really ahve enjoyed register.com
propagation in 1.5 days, awsome customer support... great interface to control your options.
They get a 20 from me out of 10 possible.

They always have responded in under 24 hours. And they have always managed to address whatever my concerns were with care and understanding; and acutually "fixing" whatever I've requested.

As mentioned in the original post, any can be added within your comments. There are only ten spaces for polls and seven were used until Stargate was added. There are hundreds of registrars so which get better picking over others? I just grabbed several that I've seen here discussed often and register.com doesn't get discussed that often. That I've noticed anyway. It may be due to the high registration costs...
