Acroplex 01-06-2004, 06:15 PM Overpriced. For $50 more you get the bigger iPod. Hosemeyer 01-06-2004, 06:16 PM Yeah, But if you only need 4 gigs, then its a good deal I had a 10 gig ipod, but I sold it because I didn't need that much space, even if I filled it up, 90% of the songs I wouldn't listen too. Acroplex 01-06-2004, 06:18 PM Price should have been $175 or less. It's an untimely release. vibesolutions 01-06-2004, 06:53 PM Originally posted by Hosemeyer Yeah, But if you only need 4 gigs, then its a good deal I had a 10 gig ipod, but I sold it because I didn't need that much space, even if I filled it up, 90% of the songs I wouldn't listen too. you can get a 20 gig neuros www.neurosaudio.com for $199 (when in stock) the Ipod you're paying for the name Steve Saw 01-06-2004, 07:04 PM It's actually the size you're paying for. It's the size of a business card (thicker, of course). In the keynote, they compared it to ___insert model I cannot remember here___, which had 256 MB of storage (I think) for $199. For $50 more, you're getting the incredibly small size of the iPod Mini + all the features of the iPod. Including 4 GB; or 1,000 songs. I too thought it was high. $250 for 4 GB or $299 for 15 GB? It's an easy answer. But then he said it was the size of a business card and held it in his hand. I'm into that small stuff, so maybe that'll be next on my list. I have a 40 GB iPod now, and I'm fine with that. Only filled up 748 of the 10,000 songs allowed, but I like knowing there's room to work with. The other GBs work for a good lookin' FireWire hard drive  Hosemeyer 01-06-2004, 09:28 PM And you go look at rio's stuff, its 1.5 gigs the same size and for $200, who wouldn't go for the apple? silhouette 01-07-2004, 12:13 AM Originally posted by Hosemeyer http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/70104/wo/cQ6zbIOgoFIb3Hy7RAGe2vcXtha/0.0.7.1.0.5.21.1.3.1.1.0.0.1.0 Check it out, its the new mini iPod. looks good, compact is what I go for:D i am not a mp3-player fans though, minidisc all the way;) CatchyHost-Royi 01-07-2004, 08:26 AM Yes, it is overpriced, should cost around the $199... But slick design! very nice! Giaguara 01-07-2004, 12:05 PM the price will drop in the next 6-9 months. the overspricing was said about hte first ipod release too. i have a 2nd gen 20 g ipod, i love it. cant fit all my music to it. i think the platinum one of those new would be kind of cool, maybe i sell my ipod in uk, and get one of those. and rotate the music.. :) The Conqueror 01-07-2004, 12:08 PM On a side note; Does anyone know if it matters if i buy a iPod from America rather than one from the Uk as its much cheaper over there.. would i need any special leads.. erm....is it 'americafied' (such as voltage difference or sizes of leads and line ins) Acroplex 01-07-2004, 12:30 PM I highly doubt it, G. CatchyHost-Royi 01-07-2004, 02:11 PM I have a 3G iPod 40GB, bought it 2 weeks ago, I already preordered tis mini ipod (i love the design!)... Price was the same always for iPod's, didn't change much, only in 20-30 bucks, also... 6-9 months, you know that's alot of time right ;) Giaguara 01-07-2004, 04:22 PM Originally posted by jstyla On a side note; Does anyone know if it matters if i buy a iPod from America rather than one from the Uk as its much cheaper over there.. would i need any special leads.. erm....is it 'americafied' (such as voltage difference or sizes of leads and line ins) the only difference(s): before the european version had to be under 104 dB thus it needed an update of software (5 mb to lower the volume). and the real one: in EU you get 24 months warranty by law. thus no apple care needed ArcticKid 01-07-2004, 04:29 PM Sleek design, but you're basicly paying for the name, as someone else said, and the size. I don't mind the size, as long as it works. Informity 01-08-2004, 03:52 AM Originally posted by jstyla On a side note; Does anyone know if it matters if i buy a iPod from America rather than one from the Uk as its much cheaper over there.. would i need any special leads.. erm....is it 'americafied' (such as voltage difference or sizes of leads and line ins) you'll need a power adapter - we run at twice the voltage of the USA. but then again you can always charge by firewire :) KIA-Joe 01-08-2004, 10:15 AM I love my iPod .. probably the best gadget i've ever purchased. dyinginavan 01-08-2004, 10:45 AM Bah, humbug. nothing beats my hugeass CD collection. I'm nothing with my discman... and MP3 sucks because I can't find anywhere that sells to the UK (iTunes, you SUCK get your UK shop FINISHED!) that doesn't only have 80's jazz or unsigned artists. brandonk 01-08-2004, 12:33 PM I sent Apple my complaints yesterday after seeing the 'iPod mini' as I think the design is flawed. It's hideous and I would never be caught dead with one. I prefer my real iPod and embarrased that the mini carries it's name!!! Rewdog 01-08-2004, 12:36 PM I would so lose that. My friend just bought a 40 gig one for 500 bucks a few days ago. |
