i like the look of ubersmith but am not too sure as to how this works on my domain.

does this work with authorize.net
is this software that is installed or links to another site?
do i need a ssl cert?

also, i don't understand the 'packages'
i can have up to 50 packages. Are packages like beginer plan, other plan etc. Or is this i can have up to 50 instances of packages. ie 35 customers on the beginner package and 15 on the other package. = 50 package?

Ubersmith works with any domain. It's a remotely hosted application. Like most merchant gateways for example, you log on to an ASP's server.

does this work with authorize.net

Sure does. If you use a real Authorize.net terminal login, you can integrate this with Ubersmith.

You get a dedicated IP on a super secure server and your own instance of the application is installed there.

do i need a ssl cert?

Yes. Your cert and key gets installed over your IP.

A 'package' is simply a 'packaged service' that you sell. For example, if you enter each one of your hosting plans and prices into ubersmith and you have a customer, 'Chicken', who buys say Plan 'X' from you on a monthly basis, then that customer has purchased a 'package' in ubersmith terms.

Then say you have a reseller, 'BC' who has 10 resold accounts from you, then he has 10 packages.

Then let's say Chicken comes back and wants to register a domain, or buy some other of your services, he then adds another 'package' for each service he buys that you have entered in your ubersmith as a unique product/service/item.

Email me if you need further clarification...

Thankee.. :)

hmm.. I'm not sure if I can explain it better than above, but the '50mb,1gig traffic' would be a package, because that's what you're selling..

A customer could have more than one 'package'.. but in most cases with a hosting business, each customer will only buy one package from you at a time, so packages will closely reflect the number of customers you have. If you had a reseller who bought multiple accounts from you, each one would be a separate package though..

How'd i do this time?? :D

I think I get it (as it confused the hell out of me at first too). A 'package' is the same as each instance a customer and/or plan appears in the billing system

10 customers with 1 account each = 10 'packages'

5 customers with 2 accounts each = 10 'packages

1 customer with 10 accounts = 10 'packages'

total:

20 customers equaling 30 packages.

For every account/domain/plan (whatever you call it), that a customer has it counts as one 'package'.

At least that's my take on it.. :)

If Greg says 10 + 5 + 1 = 20, then I believe him. I was an art major.
