View Full Version : Any idea about hosturbo.com?
WebUser 09-30-2001, 06:02 AM I see they offer great plans at http://www.hosturbo.com/plans.html . I'm hosting with hostrocket.com now, but it's expensive compared with hosturbo. Anyone has any idea about this host? I intend to move my site from hostrocket to hosturbo.
phpjames 09-30-2001, 06:13 AM You get what you pay for...beware
kunal 09-30-2001, 06:48 AM hmm.. i have heard a lot of bad comments about them.. search this forum.. you will find some interesting stuff...
anixs 09-30-2001, 11:47 AM I've been hosted with them for about a month now. No complaints! The server is very fast, support usually responds the same day, and I have noticed zero downtime so far. I'm on the $19.95/yr plan.
If I needed additional hosting I wouldn't hesitiate to sign up with them again.
Good luck

Relyc 09-30-2001, 12:52 PM $19.05/yr for 2GB bandwidth/month.
It's quite a challenge to find someone offering bandwidth at less than $1/gb
Is anybody else curious to see what happens when you start using the whole 2gb each month?
anixs 09-30-2001, 12:54 PM I have quite a few personal sites, Hosturbo hosts one of them. Relyc, you make a good point. I bet my Hosturbo site uses only 100 meg of transfer per month, if that.
Thanks

how about some site urls??
Archbob 09-30-2001, 09:53 PM Actually its not hard to find Bandwidth at under $1/GB.
Rackshack gets their bandwidth at 300GB for $99(actually I think its less than that).
So bandwidth for hosting companies who buy in bulk is about 33 cents/GB.

Neko =^.^= 09-30-2001, 10:03 PM RackShack owns the lines...and they can afford to give away 300 GB mo. transfer for 99$ because they have the bandwidth to do so...when they need more bandwidth, they can probably get another DS3 line.
Bogdan 09-30-2001, 10:04 PM Rackshack is simply overselling, as many other companies do. I doubt you will find bandwidth for $.33/GB. Average price is around $2.00/GB.
delemtri 09-30-2001, 11:28 PM Regarding RackShack:
First of all, there was a thread here recently for RackShack customers asking them whether they went up to their 300GB limit. Needless to say, most of them were far under 300GB; in fact, if I remember, most were under 150GB.
Secondly, the reason RackShack can afford it is that they run an ISP service (dial-up, I think). So they need bandwith for that anyway.

This isn't buying in bulk. This is *a* particular offer for one type of server, at one provider. Yes, it is a good offer, if you can use it, but don't confuse it with buying in bulk.
Rackshack won't let you colo your dual PIII with 2 gigs of ram at their facility for $99/mo for 300 GB of transfer (burstable bandwidth).
delemtri 10-01-2001, 12:37 AM I never understood why they didn't offer colocation. Even if it went up to $1/GB, it would still be the best offer around...
