Hi,

I read before but I cannot search the right posts again.

There are some websites which offer free service of "Server Monitor and Report" service. When your server is down, they will send you email to alert you. They will also send you a server report monthly.

Please help.

Thanks~~~~~~~

Hope that helps.

Do note that the free services typically have a monitoring frequency of up to 30 mins or 60 mins. If you are serious about your site/hosting/business etc. you should pay for it.

Greetings:

For mission critical, we found 1 minute monitoring to work well; and then 5 to 15 minute intervals for other.

Thank you.

If anyone wants a free, simple Perl script for Linux boxes for monitoring, notifying and display server monitoring reports, I wrote one for that purpose awhile back and would be happy to distribute it to anyone who wants it.

I am going to clean up the code and .tar / .zip it up later tonight/tomorrow for another WHT forum member, so if anyone else wants it while I'm at it, drop me a PM and I'll send it to you as well.

This is in no ways as sophisticated as some other apps out there but if you have more than 1 server, this little set of Perl scripts are quite easy to use.

I would be most interested in checking it out. Could you send it to me? :)

cdgcommerce,

¡@¡@Can I have one , too ? Thank you for your sharing..

¡@¡@I Tried to write my own scripts like siteuptime, but

¡@¡@I can't figure how it can measure the reponse time of

¡@¡@a service if the server icmp is off so it's impossible to

¡@¡@use ping to get it.

¡@¡@Do you guys know how to do it .. Thank you ..

CDG, I would love to have that script. I run a sorry script here on my home Linux box. As for commercial siteuptime is very affordable and we have been very pleased with them. If their servers have an issue they are quick to correct the stats on your services also.

cdgcommerce asked for PMs if I read correctly, not a whole bunch of requests on this topic.

For those of you who are visually impaired or have trouble understanding, click here (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/private.php?s=&action=newmessage&userid=43424).

I hadn't checked back on this particular thread until just now... sorry about the delay.

I've sent out the scripts to a bunch of folks who have PM'd.

I will try to get this script out to everyone who has asked for it in this thread here but if possible, yes - please PM me or e-mail me at cwest@cdgcommerce.com and I will get it over to you.

In fact to make things easier, I am going to see if I can put up a Web page with a download link and post it here in this thread, as long as it is ok with the forum mods.

Haven't seen this script so I'm not sure what exactly it can do, but for those looking for a very good monitoring system, Nagios has been around for a very long time (formerly known as Netsaint).
