Got a personal client who wants to register a personal domain. The .com is taken, the .net.au is available. However the .biz is availabel too.
Do you think a .biz is professional or just a load of trash.

Internet users are still not used to typing .biz domain names - its best to try and get a .com domain even if it is slightly more complex than the .biz one.

.biz domains are mainly bought only in addition to the .com ones. Its still a long time before .biz names become popular amongst the masses

I registered a .biz domain when they were new - but probably wouldn't do so now.

Why?

It seems that they have become associated with spam.

Oh really? My friend owns a .biz domain and she's not getting any spam emails, well, not for now at least.

Lubeca is not trying to say that you get spam if you have registered a .biz domain name

Basically - most spammers are using .biz domain names - hence internet users have started associating .biz names with spam.

Spammers use .biz names as they are slightly cheaper than .com names with some registrars - since spammers need to keep changing their names - they try and save a buck whereever they can
