Alabanza now has the VNS's up again so I installed them..waited the hour went to register.com and got an error...Annette (who is great) told me to call them because I need to register my VNS with them for it to work.

I called them waited on hold for a half hour finally got a person was transferred to another person who transferred me to another person who (no lie) transferred me to a recording that said Phone support wasnt available!!!!!ARRRGGG

Any one know the process for setting up virtual Name Servers if the domain is registered from Register.com?

Ive sent in an email support request to register.com but Id just like to know the process.

Thanks:)

THe best way is to transfer your domain to another registrar and go from there.

Dana,

I found this link http://www.register.com/faq/dm-dns.cgi?1|2098280234|#2 I think that might be what you're looking for.

Then it attempts a lookup and if it can't identify that nameserver asks for the IP number and registers it.

Could be it's really not so easy, but that's what I see here: http://www.register.com/faq/dns.cgi?1|2098280279|#5

When I put in my VNS and hit ok I get this

Failed to create nameserver ns.veracityhosting.com on SRS
IP address associated with this nameserver is 0.0.0.0.

it doesnt ask me for an IP or anything it just gives me the error

hmmmmmmmm

Ah, actually I would never recommend calling a registrar unless it's impossible to find the forms needed (emailing or hunting through the entire site is better than having to deal with them that way), so if that's how it shook down for you, that's ok - but what you went through is one of the reasons that phoning is really kind of a hassle. :)

Usually when you tranfer a domain it is "frozen" for 15 days, meaning you cannot edit any of the info for 15 days.....so i don't think you want to do that!

The only exception to this is possibly NetSol. I find their site (although a bit better than it once was since they changed), to be a bit confusing and sometimes the forms don't work. When they don't, just call them.

I guess I had a good experience, only a few minutes on hold, and that call fixed all the problems I was trying to solve via email forms up and back and up and back and...

The Problem is :flamethrower: Alabanza! there is something wrong with the IP numbers they are assigning to people who have set up their VNS since they took it down the other day...for some reason my primary IP is 0.00.00.0 . So Im stuck untill Alabanza fixes it

What specifically is a VNS as far as Alabanza is concerned? I have not seen that term used before, but I can guess at some possible meanings. Does it stand for "Virtual Name Server?"

Best regards,

Frank: yep, that's it. Sometimes they are working and sometimes not (and sometimes they half work). It's an oddity.
