View Full Version : Sell domains?
nybble 01-03-2004, 05:55 PM What the best service that will let me handle ALL the billing, ALL the clients, ALL the money and have all the software/scripts on MY site, not link to some domains.com/aff.php?id=23242423
I was looking at OpenSRS, how does that work? You put money on the account, and when a client buys a domain.... you collect there money and so on?
And if it matters I use 2co....
* edit *
If I go with enom, how much do I pay per domain?
Pilgrim 01-03-2004, 06:05 PM You can buy domains from enom starting at 6.95 but you'll need to purchase a 6.95 reseller account (usually sold around 300-400 USD since they are rare and can no longer be created)
A 7.95 enom reseller account can be bought for 20-40 USD
8.95 enom reseller accounts are free.
With all enom reseller accounts you'll have to fund the account with $ 100 before you can purchase domain names.
You can use an API interface on your website so customers will never leave your site when registering a domain or changing their information. This software can be downloaded for free at Enom.
You'll have to handle the billing part yourself. IE.. tie it into your billing system. You can also use Enom to do the billing but they take a rather large fixed fee + % which diminishes your profit if you let them do the billing.
othellotech 01-03-2004, 06:26 PM if you want to go the enom route, depositting 6950$ will get you setup as an ETP with a 6.95 price
you can buy a sub-reseller at various prices - some well respected wht posters run domain reg reseller companies - do a search
whether you want a "free" reseller a/c at 8.95 or purchase one @ 7.95 or whatever depends on the number of doamins you expect to sell.
API/Email interface is the way to go, so clients dont leave your webite and stay on the "sales-path" you set.
pdave 01-04-2004, 01:39 PM If you chiefly want a domain reseller account then you no longer want to evaluate opensrs - the only 2 registrars worth evaluating are Enom.com and Directi.com
Details of enom accounts are already given by Pilgrim and othellotech
Directi.com reseller accounts - you can get a $6.49 account if you have enough volumes. If you have low volume you can start off with a $6.99 account
BitterSweet 01-04-2004, 07:01 PM i have a retail account at enom, is there any free interface to sell domains that I could use?
You need a reseller account to be able to sell domains.
You can use RegistryRocket for free with a enom reseller account.
zerio 01-04-2004, 11:00 PM Does anyone know what Namecheap.com uses? Is there any enom reseller for less than $6.95?
kohashi 01-04-2004, 11:05 PM namecheap is using enom. nothing cheaper than 6.95 except 5.99 name only accounts (no namservers)
zerio 01-04-2004, 11:15 PM Where do you find peple that sell 6.95 enom accounts? :D
zerio 01-04-2004, 11:21 PM I just registered with Enom.com but I can't find the things.
othellotech 01-04-2004, 11:41 PM to deal with enom direct send an email to sales@enom.com asking to be upgraded to a reseller
to "buy" a 6.95 account from a enom ETP that has any left, look in the offers forums
if you want a fre 8.95 reseller a/c PM me for some details

You have both the options.
You can use their own control panel - which is completely brandable - a proper url like domains.yourdomain.com instead of something stupid like www.registrarsdomain.com/?someid=78
or you can use their API option for just about everything and have everything on your servers. I am currently using the API option for the - add domain process - as i want the entire purchase process to take place on my primary web site. I have not used the API option for the - manage domain process. Directi provides a completely branded interface - i didnt see a point of rebuilding the interface at my end.
The email management feature is really cool. You have a list of all emails that are sent out by the system. You can choose to let Directi handle your emailing for you. All emails are sent from an email address specified by you - there is no mention of Directi in any email. Alternatively, you can choose to handle all emailing yourself and switch off the emailing feature. You can also choose to send out only certain type of emails and shut off the rest.
nybble 01-06-2004, 06:13 PM how do i set up this sub-doamin for this use? (I know how to make it) but where do I point it...
I would rather use the API but thats just cause I like to have control over it, can anyone show me a FULL setup API? I want to just take an old one appart to leanrn how it works (In php)
Cause I don't know XML or what ever is uses
pdave 01-07-2004, 06:16 AM You can get all the support articles here:
http://manage.directi.com/kb/servlet/KBServlet/cat116.html
Articles that show you how to brand your control panel are here:
http://manage.directi.com/kb/servlet/KBServlet/cat91.html
API Code:
I cant give you my API Integration code as its tightly coupled with the code for the rest of my website. You can go through the examples given in the integration kit and use their API quite easily. The docs of the API are available at:
http://manage.directi.com/kb/servlet/KBServlet/cat106.html
You can checkout a very good tutorial on XML at http://www.w3schools.com/xml/default.asp
If you have have any queries about using the Directi control panel / API - its best that you ask their support staff directly using their support ticketing interface located at http://support.directi.com . I have always found them to be quite fast in responding to queries - also - they know their control panel better than I do :) so its best that you get the answers from them directly
