Andyc 01-03-2004, 03:37 PM I decided to sign up for a hosting plan at JaguarPC.com on 1/1/04. My account still has not been setup. Does anyone know how long it normally takes? I already emailed sales and they have not responded.
Thanks,
Andrew
Not long, usually. It should have already been set up. Try sending an email or calling them - they may have overlooked your order.
webman 01-03-2004, 03:41 PM I also signed it up on 1/2/03, til now I still has not receive any word from them, I also email the sales and even called them, but no respond....hope will receive the welcome email today

Hello,
Yes, I took this into consideration. I had a Justin email me a couple of days ago to verify they received my payment.

Andyc 01-03-2004, 04:53 PM No I didn't, since it is Saturday.
Thanks,

serialpurrs 01-03-2004, 04:59 PM Have you tried going through the JagPC forum? They're usually easier to get hold of there, than here.

Yes. When I tried to sign up on their forum I got SQL errors.
Andrew
AFMichael 01-03-2004, 08:19 PM Not looking good for them atm. If you get ahold of them, notify them of the SQL errors in which you have been receiving.
Andyc 01-03-2004, 10:35 PM I tried registering on their forum again and was successful. 4 hours plus waiting on a response to my post. This is not looking good for Jaguar PC atm.

czernyman 01-03-2004, 10:38 PM JaguarPC is usually pretty good at setting up accounts quickly. They recently set up an automated account setup system. I'm not exactly sure what could be going wrong. Sales does not work on weekends, but the support staff does. Normally the support isn't too active on the boards, but they do answer tickets. Unfortunatly, you need to use your account username and password to login to that.
thesmallguyshost 01-03-2004, 10:41 PM Not sure if anything had ever been posted about it as I haven't been too active here lately... but whatever happened to their control panel that people prepaid for that was supposed to be released like a year ago?
czernyman 01-03-2004, 10:44 PM I'm not sure what exactly has happened. They are still working on it, but I believe another company has taken over development.
coight 01-04-2004, 12:13 AM rastoma is on :) welcome back...
Greg or one of the other staff should get back to you soon!
Outofmymindy 01-04-2004, 12:53 AM Didn't notice this thread before...
Anyway, I just took my husband's site from their hosting after about about 8-9 months. Although I take care of the technical aspects of his site, meaning I don't need support for anything normal, when we needed to change some of his account information, I remember it taking 2 or 3 days, which is way too long in my opinion. All we needed changed was the username and password for his main account.
When I first signed him up for the account, the guaranteed setup time was blown away, completely missing their window of time. I waited 2-3 days for it to be setup, and was pretty thoroughly dissatisfied.
All in all, if you don't mind waiting a while for your account to be setup, and you don't mind waiting a few days WHEN you need support, they're an okay company. Prices are low, but that seems to make it truthful once again that you get what you pay for.

Try over 2 years ago I think...
Evidently its suppose to be out in 2004, but its just started, so who knows when that'll happen.
They've missed every single other launch date...

JPC support has always been very quick to answer my support questions and I've been with them for about two years.
I don't believe sales works on weekends, so you may not get an answer until Monday.
As for HostGUI (the control panel they were working on), JPC has taken on a partner. I don't know the details on that though.

This definately is not going well to start off. Which is too bad because their plans were perfect for me. Can anyone recommend a similar host?
Thanks,
Andrew

Wow...this industry is so extreme. The other day I was wondering why people were comparing support time in minutes...its generally fine if its under 2-6 hours....but now I've seen customers expecting/hoping replies in under 5 minutes...and on the other extreme we have hosting cos. not replying in 2-3 days...and folks still stick around. The industry is pretty unstable in what's offered and what's expected.
Personally...I **never** say we're running a race on by-the-minute responses...anything under a few hours is good. 6 hours max is what we gun for.

Yeah, I remember when a response within 24 hours was considered decent. Now it's been cut in half. I personally shoot for less than 8 hours and the question being fully answered.
I really hope you don't mean that...
heh, I noticed that too. Quite a patient person they are.

Well, the reason we stuck with them for so long is because their uptime wasn't something we could complain about. That is about the only area I can compliment JaguarPC.com on is their uptime.

It could be better now, but I was around during the change from Aletia -> JaguarPC and had a lot of downtime while waiting days for the support people to get back to me.

People have heard of people state that this and that host replied to me in X minutes where it's become something people want to hear and expect more and more often.
Hi,
We do have automated signups but it only works for clients paying via CC. For others we wait for their payment , if sent by paypal , check, money order, etc...please include your order # .
If you paid by CC and didnt get an instant set of details then our system flagged the order for one reason or another. Please contact sales and we will correct check the order for you and send you the details within seconds/minutes.
Its true, my sales staff does not work weekends. The only 24/7 apect is our support and nocc crew . However if you place an order and do not get a timely setup email please let us hear about it. By timely I mean within 15mins .
By all means we hate for someone expecting instant setup to be waiting a day or more. If that happens email myself or my sales dept, att :greg , and I'll give you a free month for our delay.

Yeah, that was a long time ago and I wouldnt wish that aletia mess upon anyone :) . Ask around in our forums and you'll see that all the former aletia clients, and our long time jag clients are well taken care of. Uptime isnt an issue for us, hasnt been for a while.
klisis 01-07-2004, 02:18 PM Yo,
I've been with JaguarPC for nearly 3 years now.
Started with their budget plan, now I've got a dedicated server going with'em.
I guess that should tell everything you need to know.
Some problem may surface, but none were dead serious.
Jacksdad 02-03-2004, 04:44 AM JaguarPC is great for me and hopefully you also.
I signed up with aletia December of 2001 and yes, during the rollover to JaguarPC there were alot of bumps. However, Jag and his great crew took care off everything and now, to this day, it is a great hosting location.
The Support team is grade A+. The forums have a lot of information and are moderated very well to ensure that questions and issues are resolved.
I could go on and on and on... :) and I won't
I will end with this, JaguarPC.com has always stood by there word and is a :smash: smashing place to have your website hosted.
I do not work to with JaguarPC nor am I affiliated with them and have not been paid to say this. I am just a paying customer. I like to praise the ones that do well.
techblast 02-03-2004, 11:41 AM JaguarPC??
Had my web with them for a year. I don't know how many tickets I opened, but I can say this. I have changed to a new host. The last 3 months I had a strange Networking problem with JaguarPC. About 50% of the time I could reach my website by the web's domain name and 50% of the time the DNS resolution would fail!
I worked with comcast, my Router Product Support and double and quadruple checked my 4 office computers. When the problem would occur I could resolve any other website in the World except the ENTIRE JAGUARPC Network! I could not even resolve JaguarPC's website!!!!!
They kept telling me it was me and never pushed the ticket. They put all the burden on me to troubleshoot. So after isolating EVERYTHING at least a DOZEN times. I switched Hosts to Hostingplex.com. I still have a 2nd major real estate site on JaguarPC and this site resolves about 50% of the time. Everytime I get DNS errors with mckinneyhomerebate.com I quickly check apartments2go.com on HostingPlex and Wala!!! There it is NO DNS ISSUES at Hostingplex.com!
JaguarPC has problems. If you are looking for a proven Network you want to stay away from them. I seriously tried to stay with them. I did not have the time to monkey with switching Hosts. In fact I moved all my domain names to JaguarPC's affliate registar. But in the END JaguarPC PROVED TO BE ABSOLUTELY UNRELIABLE for me.
So I guess it was my NETWORK! I THINK NOT! And if it is MY NETWORK why does HOSTINGPLEX.com work ALL the TIME and my remaining JAGUARPC hosted sight mckinneyhomerebate does not????
Save yourself a potential headache find a real host on a reliable network.
PS. Jaguar will tell you themselves that they made some major bandwidth changes late last fall. This is the time I started to have all my problems.
Hi there Techblast,
Im not familiar with your issue personally but if you say you had dns issues then surely you did. I can say our network has been rock solid with 100% uptime. Our shared servers, aside from a reboot here or there on some, have all had 99% if not 100% uptime in 2003.
We did not change bandwidth providers, we are here in our same data center that we setup in back in 2002. What we did was add providers and break free of an all yipes setup. To do that we also had to get our own /18 from ARIN and thus renumber ips on all machines.
Its possible, your domain was simply using a pair of name server whose ip was changed at the same time. We did not change all dns name server ips at the same time to avoid such an issue.
What we did was renumber like so:
dns1 - NEW_IP
dns2 - left the old ip for several weeks
ns - NEW_IP
ns2 - left the old ip for several weeks
ns3 - NEW_IP
ns4 - left the old ip for several weeks
and so on for all our name servers, I beleive we have about 20 in total accross multipe domains like jaguarpc, aletia, nocdns, nocdirect, etc
All I can say is sorry you had an issue with dns that for some reason wasnt quickly resolved.
As for network and reliability, any of our dedicated and 99% of the shared clients should be able to account for our proven network. I leave that 1% out becuase some just go nuts on a shared server, think its all theirs, and crash this or that until we catch on. :)
Take care,
Greg
Jacksdad 02-04-2004, 02:20 AM Hey Techblast:
BTW Nice web site, http://www.mckinneyhomerebate.com. In testing your site out, I have not seen any issue.
Did you change your dns recently:
One site reports you are using ns.jaguarpc.net & ns2.jaguarpc.net
and dig reports ns.nocdirect.com and ns2.nocdirect.com

If you did change it I hope that helps, if you did not then there is an issue with the register showing to ns's or something wierd.
Exitof99 02-13-2004, 03:41 PM After reading through these forums, I decided to try out JaguarPC, it can't hurt with some of the lower priced (yet full featured!) account. So I paid today for the v200 account with an easy to try out monthly payment plan.
I'm interested in finding the right reseller plan for me, so I'm shopping around, trying out a few different hosts. The following is my immediate impression:
Right off, I can say, the site looks nice and doesn't seem to be filled with hidden truths like some I've dealt with in the past.
The ordering phase was smooth, and they claim to have a 15 minute set up. Well, I can't agree with it taking 15 minutes, instead it took all of about a bink of the eye. I swear, I paid, took a look at something, then realized I had an email stating that the account has been set up, and I can see it via the temporary address too!
I basically paid and had instant access to my account, the control panel (Cpanel 8.8.0 with Jaguar customization), and ftp.
I've seen many comments through out these boards pertaining to problems and read the responses from Jag and Eric (is that the right name?) and they seem sincere to providing good affordable hosting. Out of all the hosts Ive tried, this one I tried in the drop of the hat and so far no regrets...
Now I've got to cancel the Bravidio account I requested earlier this week which ws supposed to be set up within 24hours, and it's beyond that line, not even a single response from their tech department, but as any one that searched these forums for 'Bravidio' knows, it's nothing new at all to get no response for days...
ryan1918 03-18-2004, 02:19 PM sounds good, I might have to try them out. They have pretty good plans

I am having what appears to be the same problem. I can get to nothing - my site, jaguarpc site etc. So, of course I cannot open a ticket because all support is online - unless someone has a support number for me.
I am not convinced it is not my provider (comcast) however so I am not blaming jaguar! I just need help...
Although not a support number, you can give us a call so we can check into this for you. 1-800-558-5869

I have two accounts with Jaguarpc.com right now, i am still working on them to get things done before showing up here in the room.
Right now, what I can tell you besides their good plans, their support service is great! Their fastest respond to my support ticket is 9 min, and the longest is abut 1 hour - I consider it to be very fast, don't you think? And all the features are cool as well.
One more thing, Jag (Greg) is a very decent and generous man!
BeatlesForum 05-01-2004, 05:05 PM Usually they are pretty efficient. Don't know.
