I have had my site on CrystalTech for about three months. (www.crystaltech.com) They were doing an ok job until my site vanished for two days.

I called support and they said that they were in the process of moving all the ColdFusion sites to a different server. My site is now back up- except I don't have FTP access to it!

They didn't notify me *beforehand* about moving the site. After calling support (and waiting a day or so) I got an email telling me that my site had been moved. The strange thing is that the email refers to some other guy's site!

About half the time the support team had an "don't bother me with stupid questions" attitude. (previous to this mess). Time to search for a new CF host...

The strange email: http://sample.adminsites.com/

(wish I had found the WHT forums earlier.)

By the way, does anyone know of a *reliable* ColdFusion Host? Preferably in the $20 a month range. (if that's possible)

Search this board (the button on right side upper) for keyword "ColdFusion"; It will help you. This is the first time I heard a negative comment abt crystaltech ppl:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I've been with CrystalTech for over a year and haven't had any major problems. I've always been notified beforehand regarding scheduled server updates, maintenance or IP changes. I don't use Cold Fusiuon, which they may host on different servers, so I can't confirm or deny a lack of notification in this instance.

As for their support staff, I've asked my fair share of good and "dumb" questions and they have always responded quickly with clear, "right-to-the-point" answers. They are polite, but I can see where some people may feel this brevity is an "attitude."

Overall, of all the hosts I've used, they've been the best.

I was thrilled with Crystal Tech - right up until one of their admins yanked my account in the middle of the night because he thought some pages I was host were in poor taste.

I was not in violation of TOS. They locked me out of my site and refused to return my intellectual property, contrary to what their hosting agreement says about such terminations.

Technically, Crystal Tech was great. However, if you're hosting something that anyone, anywhere might get offended by, I would look for another host.

Duane
