View Full Version : WebHostingTalk Montreal users - think fast!
Artashes 01-02-2004, 09:49 PM OK, a long story short. I have a friend who has a great funk band and he is performing tonight.
If you are in Montreal, and if you want to come out, have a drink, finally meet and have a good time (the club has pool, foosball, etc) then THINK FAST - let me know before 9.30 pm EST here and I'll PM you the club info.
Since I'm initiating this - entrance cover charge and pool/foosball games are on me.
The band is playing at the "Swimming" at St. Laurent and the show starts at 10:30 pm and lasts about 2 hours or less.
Best,
fromage 01-03-2004, 04:13 AM It's now 3 am and I'm about to go to sleep. Too late.
HA-Kevin 01-03-2004, 04:32 AM at 3:30 AM, it's better that I forget this invitation :D
Nymix-CB 01-03-2004, 10:26 AM Too late here too...:(
I was skiiing anyway :)
Artashes 01-03-2004, 01:17 PM All right you guys, no problem. How about we meet sometime in January though?
Nymix-CB 01-03-2004, 07:15 PM That would be nice :)
If you give enough notice, some of us Ontarians might even make the drive... ;)

I'd do some of that :)
No, I mean I'd charge you limo rates. :D
I'd take you there in a Ford Pinto, though...
Vito
Artashes 01-03-2004, 08:32 PM Well, you guys, I'll be planning this then. Approximate day: JANUARY 18.
That would be a Sunday evening?
Vito
Artashes 01-03-2004, 08:34 PM That would be Sunday, but we'll make it afternoon.
I can live with that. Heck, I can do the whole thing in one day. It's only a 5 hour drive. 5 there, 4 to socialize, 5 back. I'll be back for Seinfeld at 10 PM. :D
Vito
Artashes 01-03-2004, 08:45 PM That's the idea, Vito. Hey, one gas tank is on me if you make it. You can also take a couple of folks with you and share the ride.
I'll find a good place for us to hang then. And will PM everyone who shows interest in this thread.

Vito
thats one heck of a drive... lol
a bit far for me though (NJ, USA) :D:stickout:
Well, I'm in. Just tell me when and where, Artashes. I'll be travelling in a Jeep Cherokee. So if 3 other Ontarians want to share the ride, let me know. But it'd have to be a convenient (on the way somewhere) meeting place to pick you up. I don't want to add an hour to the trip just to go off course picking people up.
Vito
Artashes 01-03-2004, 08:57 PM I don't think it would be a problem for people to come to a certain pick-up spot. Since you know the city better - just pick the spot and then we'll manage the time of the pick-up time and meeting time.
Well, for those Torontonians out there, I live in Brampton. So I would go down #410, and head east on #401 until I hit La Belle Province. So anyone wanting to tag along would need to be on that route somewhere.
I'm guessing that if you are planning to meet 1:00 - 2:00 PM, I would be leaving Brampton around 7:30 AM.
Vito
Artashes 01-03-2004, 09:16 PM Well, folks, if you're in Toronto, feel free to contact Vito via PM, e-mail for a pick-up location spot - it would be of his choice, you'll have to get there by either bus or a taxi.
PLACE: Brampton
DATE: January 18
DEPARTURE TIME: 7.30 am
WHT meeting will start (considering the drive is 6 hours - weather can be unpredictable though) at 1.30 - 2 pm. Vito will be provided with my phone number and cell phone so that we can keep in touch.
Event will take place Downtime Montreal (an exact easy-to-find location - its a small city either way). Place to be confirmed.
If you are in Montreal, contact me if you would care to join for a drink and a day of fun. I don't have one, but someone may bring a laptop so we can report back from time to time to WHT community.
Looking forward to this event.
Best,
OK let's make this simple. Here's a map with 4 pickup locations. Anyone wanting to come along can PM me with the pickup spot of their choice.
Vito
Hmmm..
*ponders if I should go*
"The early ponderer gets the ride... "
;)
Vito
LOL... btw Pierre from lehost.net is in Montreal, i'll see if he wants to go also...
Artashes 01-03-2004, 09:58 PM In the meantime, I'm contacting a few individuals I know who complained I didn't take them with me to that PaySystems trip I had. Don't want any more accusations that I kept them uninformed. :D
Does Casa Pedro on Crescent and Maisonneuve still exist? If they do, I want some of their paella!!! Amazing dish. Not to mention their sangria. One time we flew to Montreal just to have their sangria.
Vito
BTW, whoever decides to hop a ride with me had better bring their own CD or cassette if they want to hear their own brand of music. Otherwise you'll be stuck with listening to 5 hours of Andrea Bocelli... :D
Vito
PierreB 01-04-2004, 02:10 AM I would be interested, althrough I'm 75KM north of Montreal, not a long drive down there. But still would need to drive back up there.

I will check into this. If they are still open, then we'll go there.
PierreB 01-04-2004, 02:13 AM The Thursdays used to be a nice place, atleast it was last year. Newtown and other bars/clubs are on the same street.
Artashes 01-04-2004, 02:29 AM Pierre, indeed a Newtown is also great for lounge action.
For those who don't know, Newtown is owned by Jacques Villeneuve (Ville - Town, Neuve - New), the formula one driver.
Does that mean we count you in Pierre? I'll be keeping a list of those joining the meeting and try to coordinate people.
Best,
PierreB 01-04-2004, 02:31 AM I need to see if I can get down there. Lots of familly coming my way around that date, I try to make it.
Nymix-CB 01-04-2004, 02:56 AM Remember I'm turning 18 in about a month or so...:(
:)

Yeah.... ok, so? :D We're planning to go to a lounge place anyone can attend. So you'll have a soft drink or an energy drink. That's what I'll be having anyway, since I don't drink.
Geez, I sure hope this doesn't end up like the get together I tried early last year. Everyone was gung ho on it, and then (near) everyone backed out at the end.
C'mon, people! Commit !!!! It's one day!. Set your mind to it, come out and have some fun, meet some nice WHT folks.
Vito
creid 01-05-2004, 11:25 PM hehe I can't drink.. Im only 16 :P but I'd really like to go.. Im up in Barrie.... Im going to see if I can get it off work.. If anyone wants to go skiing (i snowboard) sometime let me know! I got the hookups! (for Snow Valley) and I got a pass at Blue Mountain... someone gotta come up here sometime!
Ill see what i can do about going up with Vito.
-Chris
Artashes 01-05-2004, 11:58 PM Those who are of illegal age to have alcohol - its all right. So you'll have an energy drink, big deal.
Nymix-CB 01-06-2004, 12:08 AM Plan something and we're gonna be there :)

That's the spirit!
Its already planned. January 18, Sunday, write it down - you're going out. :stickout:
Mekhu 01-06-2004, 08:38 AM AHHHH, this sucks! I just got all excited seeing as Vito was willing to provide a ride and all and then checking my day timer, it's my grandparents 50th on the 18th :(
I guess there will always be a next time! Definately keep me informed of future events though.
Damn family dinners :D

Great, let me note this down and talk with my partner and we should be there.
Where are we going?
Artashes 01-06-2004, 10:28 AM Jeff, don't worry too much about it, there is gotta be another meeting soon in Toronto (February I guess).
UltimeWWW, we'll go anywhere Vito wants to go (since he is coming all the way down), but we'll stick to downtown Crescent street. Newtown bar/lounge as a back up, depending on whether Casa Pedro is open or closed.
Best,
That's nice of you, Artashes, but no worries. We don't have to necessarily go to Casa Pedro. If you guys have some other ideas, that's fine with me. :)
Vito
Nymix-CB 01-06-2004, 06:00 PM There is a good McDonald down-town, interested? :D
Incognito 01-06-2004, 06:09 PM This sounds like fun....would you drop by and pick me up on your way....a bit out of the way, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind.:D

Heeeeeyy! The party really gets bigger! Super if you're coming. We'll definitely have: Vito, Ultime, me, you, and might be someone from PaySystems.
Have you seen Vito's pick-up points map though? Since the poor guy is driving, do you think you can make it to at least one of those pick-up spots by taxi, bus or whatever other mean?
Best,

Best, Yes, I've seen his map....but I'm not about to drive to one of his pick up points....he can come get me....it's only a few thousand miles out of his way........:D
Hmmm, Incognito, if I leave now, and stop only for the odd pee break, we should make it in time for the 18th. :D
Leave the porch light on so I know where to stop, OK?
Vito
Incognito 01-07-2004, 12:15 AM It's the 312,879th house on the left.....Just head south.....And I do feel bad for pulling Artashe's leg....I hope all of you have a great time, sounds like a great group gathering. And, it is almost Canadien weather here tonight....29 degrees now....dropping to 19 f tonight.

There's like one on every corner. Either a McDonald's or a Starbucks.
PierreB 01-07-2004, 09:03 PM Well looks like I wont make it for the 18th, I seem to have lots of things to do. Sorry guys, maybe next time.
Should schedule this for Feb..

Best,
Ill fly over from the best city in canada (vancouver ;-) ) provided we can go to a place with roast beef and poutine .
PM me Artashes
Artashes 01-08-2004, 02:54 AM LinuxAdmin, well that is very generous of you to fly over. Well, certainly we can all go for a bite to a place with good roast beef and poutine. I'll just have to ask around about what's good around Downtown area. We better keep the meeting to Downtown so that Vito and folks don't waste too much time on travel and less time on the meeting. After all, they are arriving and departing the same day. Are you flying in and out the same day as well?
Oh...... the party is getting bigger! :D

Artashes 01-08-2004, 03:20 AM Oh, man, the girls in Montreal are (no offense ladies) top of the line! :D
If seriously, they are gorgeous and very sweet. Almost all speak at least 2 languages, too.

Well, then I'm not going to help by telling you this:
Today I was helping out at my university coordinating advisor appoitments and oh my God I've met so many cute chicks in one day! Even got one phone number for myself. ;)
I swear I could have had as many tel. numbers as I wanted today!
