Does this type of memory fit a majority of dual cpu server motherboards ?

Should work as longa s your motherboard supports ecc memory, but theres a neat tool crucial has where you can find out exactly which memory to get for your motherboard, ibelieve its on the front page of their site.

I think that's just a standar memory that should work with any motherboard (you may want to check though). It would be bettter to buy CL2 then CL3 type of memory, if you can find one.

The problem is now whether you have 1U or >1U case. If it is 1U case, then you may check whether that memory module will fit in your case. But if you have a motherboard that has its memory banks at slanted angle (or if you use >1U case), then any kind of memory should fit inside 1U case.

well i check the crucial motherboard tool and the 1GB SDRAM above fits all Supermicro and Tyan dual cpu motherboards which are used in racksaver.com servers... i do believe my server is a 1U server

only the second and the fourth server on your links (with Supermiro 370DLR and Supermicro 370DER motherboards) have slanted angle memory banks on which this CPU will fit well insider the 1U case. About the other two, you need to be very careful since even if it does fit inside the case, you may only have about 1 mm of clearance. Since your server will be racked with other servers, I will just worry a little bit that the weight pused down by other servers may give you some problems....

So Ask VO to get you the 370DLR and 370DER motherboards, and you will be all fine :)

Woa ... a system with 4GB of memory :) I like it :) I am building my own system with 2GB of memory, and I thought it's quite a lot of RAM already, at least for me :)

oh i already have the current server (rented)... just been planning to colocate and before i was worried about ram hehe
