I'm looking to start up in reselling web hosting. I'm not looking for something specific mainly something on a unix/linux server that will cost me between $2-$10/mo. total.

I'm completly open to suggestions, but the price limit must stand.

Hi,

Now basically there are 2 types of reselling web hosting.

TYPE 1
- you buy a block of space and bandwidth and you can resell unlimited / limited hosting account based on that block of space and bandwidth

TYPE 2
- you purchase a hosting plan and qualified as a reseller. You will have certain discount on your resold account. Those resold accounts' have their own space and bandwidth block (seperate from your primary reseller account)

If you are new to the market then consider reselling with type II account. Then again the problem is to find a good provider. List atleast five hosts that attracted you & do a search hre in this forum. I recommend you;

1. www.telaserv.net
2. www.venturesonline.com
3. www.jaguarpc.com
4. www.nghosting.com
5. www.liquidweb.com

All these are type II hosts offering good reselling accounts.;)

Well LiquidWeb are getting very very very big and I noticed they spent lots and lots and lots of money on their systems.

They sort of spent a bit and forgot their customers.

Hehe check my site. It is hosted by liquidweb.com. I only had few problem here and there for the past 3 or 4+ or so years I've had them.

I've had some weird issues with MCI backbone where the tracert or ping would drop right before the domain back in 99 or 2000 but nothing big.

The most problems I have right now are with www.myinternet.com and www.mydns.com (which are both the same) I have over 24 domains with them and I no longer use Cloack forward because it crashes, I just use standard re-direct.

I never looked into reseller program with liquidweb.

Although they baught the Linux RedHat 7.2 Interchange or whatever O/S the 4,000$ dollar package from REdHat.. They hosted their stuff on RH for years, I remember them using 5.x

They've gotten better at support, they have 800# now. you get a free shopping cart via their expensive o/s RH interchange or etc. and NOW THEY OFFER Agora!! aahaahah

I remember setting up commerce.cgi years ago.. lots of them than Agora.cgi took the code and made it nicer and now they offer it in the cpanel. I was shocked!

Although 'we' are in the market to get our own (tiny) server we will be leaving LiquidWeb very soon.

They are spending big bucks advertising right now. I saw them on one my of accounts :)~ at www.fastclick.com and few other places. To get there minimum is 5K a pop!

So you know those guys are making big bucks!

Ou... in my other window I have Cpanel open checking out my stats on LiquidWeb :)
