Thought this one was interesting to take a look at. Not only does Commission Junction charge an absurd amount of money which only the big hosting companies can afford, but they also are in to stealing traffic and creating pages that illegally use companies names.

Illegal Linkl (http://www.allweb-services.com/Argon-Hosting-.htm)

So if you go to goole and search our name "argon hosting" (not that any customers would be searching for us like that), you will notice that the link above at the time of this post is like 4th down. So in the event we had a customer that was trying to find our domain, etc... they may be swayed away thinking that the page was ours because our name is all over it.

If you go to this page and rollover the banner links, you'll see that the link goes to www.qksrv.net, viola, Commision Junction! No wonder they get traffic for their clients.

I just find it hard to believe that google would allow this. I have fought so hard to get what little exposure on the engines that I have and then you find this crap every once in awhile. Of course, google will most likely do nothing about it.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for healthy competition, but this is just plain wrong. Search your company name on google to see if you have been a target.

first of all it's the CJ member who is using your name to get commission. member number 1261100. prehaps you should contact them and ask them not to use your name in this way.

if they don't respond then try CJ themselves. they only provide the link they cant control the content of the page it's on.

as for google getting them to do anything is just impossible. prehaps you should look to copyright or trademark "Argon Hosting" to prevent people from using your name to earn money in this way. it is a form of illegal affliation.

Actually even if you did threaten with Tradwmark violations, they would only need to change a few words to make the site totally legal. As long as the page does some sort of comparison then they are totally in the clear.

You can't threaten someone with violations, you can accuse them of violations.

By the way, you're on the right track with your explanation JeremyL, if the original Argon Hosting is selling web hosting and the second Argon Hosting is providing Host/Special Talent to parties and conventions.. well, then you can't really claim any loss of business.

thanks to all for your input. Learned alot myself here. The issue was resolved by contacting CJ directly.

Thanks again.
