I'm wondering what external server monitoring service you all use if any. I signed up with siteuptime.com for now, but wondering if there are any better ones.

Steven 12-31-2003, 09:54 PM Alertra is a good one dynamicnet 12-31-2003, 10:48 PM Greetings: We use the same system we developed for NTT/Verio's enterprise division. Granted we are biased, but considering 60 second monitoring, unlimited distribution, escalation chains, et all... we are happy ;-) Thank you. mikeym 01-01-2004, 03:46 AM I use Alertra too now. Haven't had a problem with them yet. nickn 01-01-2004, 10:20 AM now..what kinda fees do you charge for that dynamicnet? ;) choon 01-01-2004, 10:46 AM If you want to monitor all your servers/services... maybe you can consider installing nagios (http://www.nagios.org/) in one of your server? bizness 01-01-2004, 11:03 AM nagios looks pretty good. might look into using it Aussie Bob 01-01-2004, 11:08 AM Yep, we have Nagios running and use Alertra to provide uptime stats etc. Of course, make sure you have Nagios setup in an off-network server too. :) ringnebula 01-02-2004, 04:37 AM I would have to second (or third?) the nagios suggestion. The software is great and with a little work you can build yourself a nice php or perl admin frontend to it. Devnut 01-02-2004, 05:19 AM I'm w/ thelinuxguy & 93.3.. Alertra is does its job very well. I'm actually looking into an off-site setup of Nagios as well.. guess it's a popular solution ;) -Ryan Devil Inside 01-02-2004, 05:47 AM I'm using siteuptime for now as it's more cost effective and gets the job done for my one server ;) But will most likely move to alerta in the future. Will look into Nagios also. TR Seeks 01-02-2004, 07:07 AM nagios is a great tool and pretty easy to use. Version 2 the full version will be realeased soon. At the moment its only in alpha 1Host 01-02-2004, 03:25 PM Why the need to use Nagios AND an external service? What is it that Nagios doesn't do? timbertens 01-02-2004, 04:27 PM i have used IPMonitor (for Windows) from Deepmetrix before... I think it' pretty good! Tim. |
