Why is that when I enable frontpage for a user site (~username) it doesn't work unless I make them a site admin as well. Only problem is, once I do that they have access to the main site too.
Any ideas?

I remember going through a work-out for it, but don't have the URL though. I would try searching for it on my HDD, because I have a folder in which I save all the server problems and help files, because you don't know but they might help you sometime later :) Just being cautious :) WreckRman2 09-28-2001, 11:06 AM Thanks, I did notice that if I made them a site admin it worked but they had access to the main site too. However if I removed the site admin they lost access to the main site but could still access their own user site with FP. It works but this doesn't make sense. ljprevo 09-28-2001, 11:11 AM What kind of Raq do you have? On the Raq 4 I think this was fixed, also I think there is a patch for this problem at Cobalt's site. WreckRman2 09-28-2001, 11:18 AM I have the RaQ3. WreckRman2 09-28-2001, 11:26 AM Well I can't find jack crap on the Cobalt site. Have a link to the updates? Well I found in the knowledge base that it say: Question Is it possible to create subwebs on the RaQ3 or RaQ4? Answer You may use Frontpage 2000 to publish your website to the site's main web directory and to the user's web directories. Subwebs, however, are not supported on our servers. Question Can I create sub-webs for users created in a virtual domain? Answer No, this is a limitation in the implementation of FrontPage Server extensions on the RaQ. You can use the command, enable.subweb, to create subwebs off of the web root, but you cannot create subwebs for a user found in /home/sites/sitename/users/username. If this is the case then why do they even have the check box to enable it as a FP web when you can't.... Stupid. ljprevo 09-28-2001, 11:34 AM http://www.cobalt.com/support/download/raq3.eng.html WreckRman2 09-28-2001, 11:55 AM Thanks for the link. I wasn't able to find one that said it was for the problem so do you know which update it was? Thanks. |
