What would happen if I pointed more than one domain name to the same DNS server?

Synergy 09-27-2001, 09:46 PM Nothing really Happens :) but i'm not sure what you are really asking..... Lancia 09-27-2001, 10:04 PM Sorry, I guess I should have explained a little more clearly... :) I have my first domain name, and I have it established on my hosting account. Now, I have a second and third domain, which I want to be directed to the first one (without paying the $10 URL forwarding fee to GoDaddy or transferring the domains to another registrar). So, if I set those other two domain names to the first domain's DNS information, what would happen? Synergy 09-27-2001, 10:11 PM Well do you have a server? On hosting accounts, Its more like this: www.urname.com you can have www.urname2.com pointed to www.urname.com/2 but when you access urname2.com, it will show the stuff from the sub folder 2. Its free (most hosts offer for free) and alot of my clients use it which it bums me out.... they can have 1 account instead of paying me for 2 but business is business... :D There is no need to pay godaddy for url forwarding charges. That would be great, but how exactly would I go about setting that up? Synergy 09-27-2001, 10:33 PM Well it be easier if you tell me if you are on a webhosting or do you operate you own server. Lancia 09-27-2001, 10:40 PM Oh, I'm on a shared server managed by a hosting company. :) Jm4n 09-27-2001, 10:45 PM You will need to contact your hosting provider. If you just point the domain to your provider's DNS, their DNS will not answer any requests for it until it is configured. It won't just magically work :) Lancia 09-27-2001, 10:50 PM Originally posted by Jm4n You will need to contact your hosting provider. Lancia 09-27-2001, 10:58 PM OK, great! I think I (finally) understand it now. Thank you both for all your help, I really appreciate it! :D Synergy 09-27-2001, 11:05 PM Originally posted by Lancia OK, great!
