View Full Version : Cartoon Network's West Coast Feed...
This was brought to my attention by an Admin on Webchat.org...
It appears that someone has either taken control of Cartoon Network's west coast feed or someone within their control room is about to fired. We know it is definetely affecting Adelphia on the West Coast although they claim it's nation-wide.
Who else is getting this? Anyone? Also, what is your location and what provider?
Oh I should probably include the screenshot... This has been up for more than an hour!
Just got an update;
"A call was placed to the TimeWarner/CNN Master Control in Atlanta - they had one call about it, and they say that their control room people aren't seeing it...that would lead to the Satellite"
This could get nasty...
cywkevin 12-30-2003, 12:55 AM not seeing anything wrong with cartoon network which I love by the way awesome network. Hate a lot of the shows but it certainly has it gems. Gotta love adult swim.

What's your location and who is your television provider?
cywkevin 12-30-2003, 12:57 AM southern california cox communications
randyc 12-30-2003, 01:00 AM Adelphia in Chino Hills, CA is not receivin it. its just normal.
Trifolic 12-30-2003, 01:03 AM Normal programming here. I'm in NY with DirecTv
interactive 12-30-2003, 01:04 AM If you don't mind me asking, what are those dudes saying? What's so bad about it?
Well darn, I was getting all excited too. Must be localized to one provider then, unless someone else is seeing this too?
cywkevin 12-30-2003, 01:09 AM That or the adult swim crew is having some fun. They get bored over on williams Street
scottkin 12-30-2003, 01:24 AM Well, I just submitted an article to /. on this - we'll see if RobM is in a good mood tonight.
I called TimeWarner/CNN's Master Control Room, and they said that only one other person had called to complain about it, and that their engineers are seeing nothing out of the ordinary.
To have that feed localized to only one other cable system (that we know of) is highly unusual. Adelphia is aware of the problem, and they indicated that it is on their *incoming* feed for CartoonNetwork.
It's now 9:22PM PST, and this has been going since around 7:30PM PST.
"Strange Days Indeed"
randyc 12-30-2003, 01:35 AM Called Adelphia support, and the guy said theyve gotten some calls and have no idea control/idea whats going on, but he ushered me to call:
1-404-827-1717 <Cartoon Netwokr Operator or something.
I called, asked what was going on and she said Atlanta is not receiving this problem nor are the people in the control room, therefore the problem is between wherever they feed off to and us.
LanceCoder 12-30-2003, 01:46 AM I think we're getting some weird crap too over here (redmond washington)
scottkin 12-30-2003, 01:50 AM What kinds of stuff are you seeing there, LanceCoder?
--scottkin
banner 12-30-2003, 01:54 AM I just checked it here and it looked like normal programming (Redmond, WA on Comcast Digital cable). Who knows what's going on...

She is referring to what Hooba said Hiya..
Cirtex 12-30-2003, 08:21 PM I'm sorry, not too familiar with "New Found Glory"
Maybe I remembered wrong, but check out google search page :)
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=New+Found+Glory+Punk
I can still be wrong :)
platinum 12-30-2003, 08:25 PM They are a punk band heh. ;)
Xshare 12-30-2003, 09:20 PM They aren't punk. They may say they are punk, but they aren't. They're more popish.
Cirtex 12-30-2003, 09:25 PM I don't listen to their music but have heard bout one of their songs so I cant really judge them ;)
Anyways lets get back to topic instead of turning this thread into a NFG thread.
mainarea 12-30-2003, 09:31 PM NFG is labled as "emo-ish pop punk" in my mind. They don't really fit one mold, except for the "singer with a nasal voice" one :D.

You haven't. They aren't the SLIGHTEST BIT emo! Poprock is more like it.
mainarea 12-30-2003, 10:25 PM The nasal voice makes me think emo.... I can't help it :D I've heard way too much emo, can't stand most of it (Finch is okay though, and some "screamo" bands like Thursday are really good).

Okay, some Thursday is screamo, but you've completely missed the genre by listening to mainstream.
Emo:
Bright Eyes - A Perfect Sonnet
Mineral - Slower
Death Cab For Cutie - Photobooth
Screamo:
Poison the Well - Slice Paper Wrists
Listen to these four songs and then restate your opinion. :)
Maybe a mod could change this thread and call it The New Found Glory Thread...
Please do note the sarcasm.
scottkin 12-30-2003, 11:22 PM Well, it's starting all over again, but this time it's sporatic, and this time it's the image of a 5 or 6-year-old boy playing in his bedroom with a red-and-yellow action-figure.
A new call placed with Adelphia confirms this is the same scenario all over again, and their technicians are aware of it.
I wasn't able to get a screenshot, but I will when this happens again.
--ScottKin
This is just getting to be a little too freaky...
