I've just signed up with discount-hosting.com. However after install XMB forum, I had the feeling that the server kind of slow. I used ping command to check but got the message "unknown host". Anybody has any other way to see how fast it is? Well I know for under $1/ month you can't expect much, but I'm just curious.

About the ping, I don't have much knowledge about it. The lower the better? webhosting shows at 130ms. Do we only care about average? Or we should care about minimum and maximum also?

I accessed ur site but its nor xmb forum - it seemed to be some other forum - reasonably fast for me ? is it php ? does it have member to member pm facility/unsubscribe and edit/delete ?

The forum I use in my homepage is OpenBB. I just wanted to tested it out. The XMBforum hosted by discount-hosting.com is at vietforum.com. I still have the feeling that it's kind of slow.

I don't think so, may be something wrong with my comp, the web shows very slow, and I'm using Verizon DSL. Is there any tool to tell me how fast it is, I always got unknown host, which didn't happen to other websites, when using ping.

It responded after 2.6 sec the first time, meanwhile WHT only 0.4, but the second time was 0.6, pretty good but another tried gave the message unknown host.

They take credit / debit card, I'm on the trial 1 month right now. They don't have any cpanel (except a small dropdown menu let you do forwarding email and make payment) but they do have PHPmyAdmin (which doesn't big deal cuz we can install one anyway). They don't have CGI supported though.

Last note, eventhough they stated that they don't have support via email, if you check their forum, you'll see that they answer questions almost everyday, pretty good for less than a dollar a month.

Thanks Nam - yes they have pretty cool support .May be they should use xmb or phpbb to avoid that cluttered look. I know they dont have cgi - but thats ok.
For me vietforum is always faster than wht . I will love to join vietforum though I am not sure if outsiders are welcome.

Re the payment I was wanting to know how reliable they are and whether they are using some site like paypal or their own system.
The cc part is the most scary ( stolen card numbers etc) since they offer a lot at that price. Any idea how long they are in business?
