View Full Version : East coast dedicated servers
NationHosts 12-27-2003, 02:31 PM Well I'm into game hosting and I'm looking for a new east coast provider. This doesn't mean I'm leaving my current provider but it means that I want to expand my locations. This location has to be well priced, good pings (good bandwidth providers) and ideal for game hosting.
I'm also looking for a Chicago, IL location if you guys can recommend any. I was thinking about buying dual xeons and colocating them with CI Host since they have nice bandwidth but I'd rather find a host that rents out dedicated dual xeons with around 500GB bandwidth at least. I wouldn't need 1000 GB bandwidth.
If you guys can recommend some providers and post their website or PM me their info, that would be great. I know about superb and I won't go near Ezzi.
thanks for all the help!
Nessun 12-27-2003, 02:46 PM for east coast gaming I would definatly go with either superb or dv2 (or one of there resellers) both of these companies have great routing and pings all over. dv2 has nice support and as said i get excellant pings with them.
For IL I have been searching for a good priced server for quite some time and have yet to find something in which suites my needs if possible I would suggest looking for a servercentral reseller as they have some nice lines but buying directly without a large bandwidth commitment is rather expensive.
NationHosts 12-27-2003, 03:10 PM what DV2 resellers are there out there?
Nutty 12-27-2003, 04:46 PM For Chicago try www.interquad.net
They have a rack in the ServerCentral Facility using SC's bandwidth, and are much more affordable then SC.
Nessun 12-27-2003, 05:06 PM i believe cyburwurx is a reseller of dv2 not positive and i know burtonhosting is as we have a server through them,
rusko 12-27-2003, 06:32 PM matt,
ive heard from their former clients that superb has serious intermittent high latency issues. you may want to check the validity of that before committing to a deployment with them.
as far as chicago goes, i know of a chap with space at equinix and servercentral/btn blended, if i remember correctly. he does gameservers as well. i will check with him to see if he wants to take colo orders.
as far as east coast and especially the great northeast goes, i would recommend a provider that has c&w and/or mfn with a peering presence at nyiix and ash and possibly torix, if you are looking for canadian coverage as well.

NationHosts 12-27-2003, 09:45 PM Yes I've been looking at peer1 as well. I know you have it in NYC.
Steven 12-27-2003, 09:49 PM NAC?
Hi NationHosts,
In the east, I'd suggest checking out Superb Servers. They have good prices and quite developed peering, which helps a good bit in the ping department. I've had a game server with them for almost a year, and I've been pleased with them. I have noticed a few instances of high latency that rusko mentioned (mainly caused by AboveNet, not them), but they've been few and far between. Generally, they've been very reliable... certainly much better than some other providers I've used. The pings/ploss have been quite good. Try some trace routes at their site... that's what I did =)
Hope this is helpful...

NAC?

NAC has great pings to the US and Europe. We still use and recommend NAC because they never fail to impress us.
There are a number of providers who have the ability to offer what you require - if you are on a budget, it may be worth considering someone like DedicatedNow.
Joshua 12-28-2003, 10:54 AM Cascompany.com is also a reseller for DV2/GNAX - I haven't tried them, personally, but have seen their offers in the advertising forum here.
Digitalprinceton.net has space in C&W's Jersey City DC - Contact them to see if you can get bulk pricing on bandwidth if you order a few servers.

NationHosts 12-28-2003, 11:41 AM Atlanta is a little far down don't you think? I think it would be better to get something in the northern part of the country so I can host some Canadian customers as well.
Joshua 12-28-2003, 12:12 PM ********** offers colo (not sure about dedicated) in C&W's Jersey City facility, I believe through Choopa. Their offer is at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=218994 , as their site is still under construction.

Jake Weg 12-28-2003, 12:31 PM Yes I can confirm that we do in fact offer dedicated servers.
And yes we do lease space from choopa.
Nessun 12-28-2003, 02:17 PM i must admit choopa is very very nice as I have a server there as well great routes everywhere but usually a tad high in price
We are indeed a reseller/colocator of DV2.

I won't go near Ezzi
If you can wait it out for a bit, I think Ezzi might be ok after they get some of the power issues they have been having worked out. I would not order a new server there today, but check back with them around Feb and see how they are doing on their power buildout. Their facility will soon have gig-e links to something like 13 different bandwidth providers, and their network has been good for me when they can keep the lights on.
Jake Weg 12-30-2003, 12:37 AM I definetely dont reccomend ezzi :/ just look at the outage forum.
ispclub.com 12-30-2003, 01:35 AM EZZI hasnt had a blip since we emailed our customers that the issues with the network have been solved 2 weeks ago. We hired NAC.net to help with upgrades and get ready for future growth since we let our core network team go... We have new employees starting next week.
In about 2 months we should have 13 Gig-E connections to 13 different providers, as long as all goes to plan. Right now we private peer with 22 carriers and are connected to 8 providers via Gig-E connections and the private peering will only increase.
More info on the network can be found by clicking here (http://www.ezzi.net/datacenters/home.htm)
You will see a lot of good things come from us very soon.
CCF Hosting 12-30-2003, 01:49 AM Hello,
I would recommend NAC. I have a server there, if you wish I could give you a pingable IP address.
Thanks and God Bless!
